I am planning to go Skardu to spend Eid with my wife and son. I have Corolla 97 and i have 4 days to come back to Isb.
Please guide me that which way i go as i only have been to naran before the earthquake.
Advice also where I stay and is it safe to go with 1 year boy or any other location where I can go....
Thanks in advance
@ oracle
bhai before earthquake road to Naran was in excellent condition. ( fully carpeted + wide). u cant compare that road with KKH. ( karakoram Highway)
as u r planning for Skardu along with ur wife n son n u have only 4 days for this tour:( so i'll not advice u to go to Skardu especially with ur 1 year old son.Road to Skardu is not wide enough n mostly remains under land slides:(u can go to Gilgit n Hunza ( as per ur circumstances).from Abbottabad it takes 12 hours non stop time to reach Gilgit. so have to leave early at abt 4 AM from ISB then u'll be able to reach Gilgit by 6PM ( it will be a fast n almost non stop drive, except for food n fuel stops)in Gilgit there r many good hotels. some of these r Rupal Inn, Gilgit Serena Hotel n many more :dstay night there at Gilgit n next morning u can visit gilgit bazar (so bhabhi can do some shopping there), it is called NLI or chinese market:Dthere is nothing much to see in Gilgit City :(, from gilgit u can visit "kargah nala" ( abt an hour drive from gilgit) but its a jeep track ( u can easily hire jeep). another place to visit is the chinese graveyard:( there is nothing except the graves of chinese who died while building KKH.
so mere bhai till noon gilgit main aap ghomo phiro, bhabhi ko shopping karaoo n after having lunch, leave for Hunza Hunza is not far from Gilgit, just in 3 to 4 hours u can easily reach Hunza capital of Hunza Valley is " karimabad ".Hotels r availabe there at Karimabad spend night there n the next day 2nd day leave early from Hunza n u can reach Abbottabad by 9 PM from abbottabad u can easily reach back to ISB
for any further information u can contact me on 0300-8274291
oodbalowvery true informations......but i still think 4 days r not enough at all for hunza with a lady and one year old baby. as kkh is very tyring and exhasting.. must have atleast one week.and yes,.. hunza is SOOOO BEAUTIFUL.
Dear Oracle,
I would also advise you not to go by road to Skardu or Gilgit for such a short trip. It is very tyring for the families and little children get extremely irritated by sitting for so long, and also because of ear pains due to changing air pressure.
You could try going by air, but the flight schedule is quite unreliable.
If you do decide to go to Gilgit anyway, there is a Ski place called Nalhtar about 2 hrs ahead of Gilgit. It is a Jeep track and, again very tiring.
Do let me know if you require further assistance.
@oodbalowThanks a lot for the information.... After ur advice i am now planning to go to Gilgit and Hunza and Inshallah i will contact you for ur more guidance....please advice for the CNG station if there are any on the way or i have to fill up my car petrol tank.....
@SHACHOSANTravelling is not an issue for my wife and son as i go to karachi by car without stopping any where except for CNG and even came back by car with them and my son did enjoy it.......for u, thanks fr advice
@abujamalI have only 4 days and i cant rely on PIA as u know that on EID days it isvery hard to get the seats and u can't confirm the departure of plane from there even it is confirmed.....one can go by plane if he has time...
Mansehra is the last place where CNG is available :D. after crossing mansehra u'll not find any CNG station in this trip.so get ur car's fuel tank topped up. from Dasu ( capital of kohistan Distt.) u can again fill up the tank. plz also keep in mind that there are no petrol pumps between Gilgit & Hunza :(.so fill up the tank from giglit.in hunza there is a good PSO pump at Aliabad which is not far from Karimabad (capital of hunza valley)
bhai u can contact me anytime
you should take a flight the weather is not bad these days and it is prime time to see hunza as the leaves change colour in autumn. 4 days is not enough time to enjoy if you are driving. Please consider the flight option for you own conveinience
