Assalamoalaikum ,

Being a frequent traveller on motorways/national highways i am creating this thread so that all of us can share valuable information/guide regarding travelling to various places.

The scope of the thread in my mind is :

1) Share tips regarding which route to take
2) Update about road/traffic condition on certain routes
3) anything valuable/interesting for frequent travellers

Mods please lose the topic of repost.

i am a frequent traveller betweel Islamabad to Lahore & Islamabad to multan.

I found this amazing route for people travellling to mutlan which gretly reduces time.

The route is Islamabad-faislabad-jhang bypass road-gojra-toba tek singh-rijana-abdul hakeem-Kacha khow-Multan

Approximately 50-70 km short than kabirwala route and road is in great condition thanks to riaz fatiana

An interesting observation about M 2 is that on the dividing wall their are markings for each KM done.

Travelling from lahore you can view how many km's u have made by carefully(make sure this observation is made by anyother person except driver) observing on the wall that there is distance covered mentioned in Yellow.

While coming from islamambad Distance left is mentioned.

Also i would suggest for all CNG users not to take the gas from Bhera rather take exit from bhera and try the cng which is just around the bhera exit.

Last time i tried it it had 260 presssure and the gas gave excellent mileage and perfformance despite the elevation after salt range.

These are called mile markers or km markers in Pakistan, I presume; a standard feature of modern expressways. It helps in pin pointing locations; for LE, helping stranded motorists and other such activities. Also, exit numbers are based on these markers.

Can Someone who recently been to northern areas post recent road conditions on karakoram highway and ideally post recommended routes for people travelling on their own cars for gilgit,skardu,naran kaghan.

i am talking ab gilgit road. road choti cars ke liye sahe nahin hai matlab ja sakti hai car laikin zulam hoga car ke sath. kyon ke hamari LC 30 40 say upper nahin jati thi kyon ke itne khaday hein aur road kafi khasta halat mein hai kuch jagah per road thek bhi hai here are some pics of the road only:)

Thanks for giving an idea about road condition. Moreover can you mention the route to these areas i.e if you are traveling from islamabad through which major cities/villages u shall pass and mention the effected patches of road on the route.Would be highly appreciable.

hum jab gaye thay tuh peshawar say gaye thay.
raat 1 bajay niklay to abbatabad 4 bajay pohach gaye
then 8 bajay bisham pohnach gaye wahan per PTDC walo ka motel bhi hai agar koi stay kerna chahta hai tuh ker sakta hai
then wahan say dasu pohnachay jo KOHISTAN mein ata hai. wahan say then chilas hum 4 30pm pohanchay. then wahan raat ki then wahan say subh niklay aur chilas say 4 hour ka rasta hai gilgit ka.

The route is Islamabad-faislabad-jhang bypass road-gojra-toba tek singh-rijana-abdul hakeem-take right to kabir wala road from abdul hakim road-take left from pul bagar-kabirwala bye pass but dont turn left other wise that will hit road near khanewal-Multan

its also have good road condition. and also take less time from kacha khow road

Nowadays i would like to suggest to Follow Islamabad-Pindi Bhatian-Chiniot-Jhang-Kabirwala-Multan road as Jhang Bypass is functional (though no indication for bypass yet) as it is the shortest and road condition is now great.Would take no more then 7 hours to reach multan from Islamabad.

Rawalpindi-Talagang-Mianwali-Taunsa-Multan

Whats the road condition between talagang and taunsa(on mianwali muzzafargarh road) and is the road completed from taunsa till northern bypass multan.

and also whats the road distance in total till multan.

Must Try "Mian Ji Punjab/Burhan hotel" between kamra and hassan abdaal. Best way is to take exit from burhan and go towards kamra you'll find this hotel on the opposite side.

Absolutely loved the place.
