A.A.
Alhamdullilah, we have successfully completed our trip to Sri Paye, Naran, Saif-ul-Muluk Lake, Ansoo Lake and Dudipat Sar Lake.
I am extremely thankful to all Pakwheelers who have been sharing latest available information and their trips on these forums which helped a lot in planning my trip.
We were four group members including myself, my younger brother and his two friends.
Trip was planned somewhat like this:
June 19: 12 a.m. departure on Niazi Express from Lahore to Mansehra; take jeep from Mansehra; visit Sri Paye and reach Naran by evening:
Completed successfully: But we had to take taxi from Mansehra till Paras due to landslide on June 18 night near FairyLand Hotel in Paras and jeep was stuck on the other side. But when we reached the location the FWO team had already opened the road for traffic so we took the jeep and went back to Sri Paye)
June 20: Leave from Naran for Saif-ul-Muluk then onwards to Ansoo Lake and camp at Saif-ul-Muluk for the night
Completed successfully: Yes! we completed this successfully against all the odds. The glaciers behind Saif-ul-Muluk were huge, Malika Parbat base camp was fully covered with snow, the initial dirt track was OK but the area of 'Maidan' just before the snow covered mountains was also fully covered with snow. The snow was soft and difficult to climb so we used special sticks and ropes to climb (ropes [not fixed] were used on steep paths only). AND most challenging of all, the moment we reached Ansoo Lake, the snowfall started
. We stayed up there for 10 minutes only while snowfall was getting heavier and then came back till dirt track in 1 hour 30 minutes and it was still snowing. Everything was frozen as it had got extremely cold due to fast cold wind alongwith snowfall. Now, the dirt track had become mud drain which was very dangerous to step on. So, we covered 20 minutes downward walk in another 2 hours. The good thing was that the moment we started dirt track, the wind got very slow and due to decrease in altitude, the snowfall was no more there however one could tell easily by looking back what was happening up there as clouds were very dark.
June 21: Rest day in Naran; did some early morning shots for Saif-ul-Muluk, went to river side in Naran and relaxed.
Ofcourse Completed Successfully
June 22: Leave from Naran for Besal; start track for Dudipat Sar Lake and reach Mulla ki Basti before sunset.
Completed Successfully We had no plans to reach lake on same day as everyone was telling us that there is still lots of snow and Basti is still closed so it will be very difficult to reach there. So we kept extra time for track and decided to visit lake in the morning. There are many glaciers in the way right now and 3 of those are dangerous. The riverside track on low altitude was closed due to glaciers so we had to start with a steep climb on the big mountain which is usually seen occupied by sheep and horses from Besal.
June 23: visit Dudipat Sar Lake; cross Saral Pass; go down to Jalkhad-Nuri Top Road; Visit Nuri top on jeep
Partially Completed: We visited Dudipat Sar Lake but dropped the plan for crossing Saral Pass as it was totally covered with snow. So, we came back through the same route and went to Naran in the evening.
June 24: Departure from Naran for Lahore
Completed Successfully
The pics will be coming up very soon Inshallah and i assure you this will be very unique collection for Ansoo Lake and Dudipat Sar Lake treks!!
