Any1 has travelled from Quetta to Iran by road? Hows the road condition? what are the security risks? Is there anyother official crossing between Pakistan and Iran? Kindly give your valuable suggestions.

I travelled probably 7-8 years back from pakistan to Azerbaijan by road through IRAN
From Quetta you have to reach to Iran-Pakistan border known as TAFTAN, Taftan is the place which is the official crossing between both countries.
About road conditions...one word

I have heard the RCD highway is excellent in half way, but very bad for the other half. I just want to validate this.

Just a week ago i travelled to Dalbandin from quetta. It is some 340km from quetta and about 180 kms short of taftan on RCD highway. Road is nder maint and construction, took me 6 hrs non-stop to reach there. From Dalbandin onwards the road is excellent till border. You must travel in day time, otherwise there is nothing wrong with the area though i saw a few custom check posts here and there since i was in a govt convoy so i have no idea how do these check post personnel behave with single travellers.

Buddy there is no problem or security risk on that road from Queeta to Taftan Iran border.
But if u travell in day time that is good, other wise i am used to travel in night time also.
Regarding road condition it is very good but some parts r under construction.
There r a lot of bus serveries on that road from Queeta to Taftan.
For people of punjab they need visa for entry in Iran.
for people of Baluchistan they need Rah Daria to enter in Iran.
Donot worry ...that place is a nice place.
regarding currency ...u can use pak, iranian or us dollar in taftan.
