Trek to Sharan forest Kaghan valley

We have plan of trekking to Sharan forest in Kaghan valley. This will be a great opportunity to view sharan in snow, there will be four to five feet snow level, but for trekkers i think it will not be more then knee level.

** Plan details: **

Day-1 (1-March Friday) Departure from Lahore to Mansehra (participants from other then Lahore will go Mansehra them self and will join us)

Day-2 (2-March Saturday) Travel to Paras by hiace. 2, 2.5 hour Jeep trek and then 3 hour trekking to Sharan forest rest house.

Day-3 (3-March Sunday) Few hour for exploring beauty of Sharan forest and leave back to paras through trekking and jeep and then travel back to Lahore by Hiace. We will reach Lahore early morning.

**Trek Cost: 7000 per head from Lahore to Lahore.
**Trek Cost: 5500per head from Mansehra to Mansehra.

**Last date of registration with full payment: 25 Feb 2013.

We came back from successful trek to Sharan forest. Here are detail and pictures.

1st March Friday night: We started our journey from Lahore Niazi Adda and reached Mansehra early morning 6:00am, one fellow joined us from Mansehra, he reached directly to Mansehra from Jehlum, saraye alamgir. Our booked hiace was waiting for us at Niazi Adda Mansehra, we transfered our luggage from bus to hiace and traveled towards Balakot.

2nd March Saturady: We took breakfast at balakot and our team of 5 members including guide and porters joined us from balakot. Now we were six trekkers and 5 guide porters.
After loading camps and food on hiace we started travel to Paras. We reached Paras at 8:30am.
Our jeeps were already booked waiting for us, we shifted our luggage to jeeps and started travel to sharan forest. This is very old jeep track and many local people use it for their home, there are many small villages there so its well established jeep track, but in 2010 flood starting point of jeep track was destroy so they build alternate track that merge with old one. This new jeep track is very complex and has very sharp turns. We were almost 4000ft when we started jeep track and we were about 7500ft at top in jeep. Jeep drivers used chains on wheel to drive on snow. So at one point jeeps cant go more so that was our trekking starting point.
It was 11:30am when we started our trekking towards Sharan forest. We used trekking pole and gaiters to trek in snow. At start it was foot level snow but after 10 minutes it was half knee level snow and it was bit difficult to trek in snow.
At 1:00pm we took rest on one point and we did lunch of Chicken karahi. After that delicious lunch we again started our trekking and after that trekking was much hard because now snow was much dens and now it was knee level snow and every step was hard but good point was that it was not that much incline or decline trek except one or two small inclines, whole trek was almost smooth. Actually it was a jeep trek on which we were trekking.
At 6:30 we reached at forest youth rest house. It was very nice rest house with all facilities like kitchen toilet bed. We cooked our dinner Chicken Biryani and Chicken roast and tea. After dinner we slept and got up early in morning.

3rd March Sunday: We took our breakfast french toast and after that we explored that area, did some photography and packed our bags. mean while our guide porter were busy in cooking and then they clean whole rest house. We started our trek back to Paras at 9:30am and we reached same point for lunch where we did lunch last day. This time chiken biryani was in menu. After that we trek back to jeep. and took jeep to paras. Reached Paras at 4:30pm. Then our hiace was waiting for us on which we traveled back to balakot to Mansehra then to Lahore on Niazi.
