Please let me know about how to reach Kandool lake from Kalam? Can one go with the family? Is there a jeep trek which goeas till lake? If there is no jeep trek till end, how far the jeep road can take you before the lake?

hahahaha jeep track till lake "dreamon man"

yar kundol ake can be reached by a 4.5 hrs trek from Laddu which is a few kms from Utror bazar.... Utror is abt 16 kms from kalam town....

jeeps ply from kalam to utror. u need to hire a jeep from kalam till laddu and then trek up...

its not advizable with family

i have just seen your photos of kalam and kundol lake trek on flicker and i must say tey are excellent bro

me and my office mate are planning a trip to swat from 28th june to 3rd july can you please guide us we want to see mahodand lake and trek to kundol lake too i need special info about the distance of liddu from kalam road condition jeep fares and the difficulty of the trek etc please your kind response would be highly obliged

i need special guidance from you as i am making my iternery these days regarding kalam and areas beyond it.

on these dates ull find it easer to travel to the said locations coz its open season..........

from laddu the trek to kundil lake is abt 5-6 kms but its is steep. actually we had to go from other side (longer route) coz of snow and misguidance by locals so it took us longer.. u can reac in 4-4.5 hrs easily........

mahodand lake is open zone no trekking. its abt 30 kms from kalam city...... u can reach in 2-2.5 hrs on jeep...

jeep track condition is not that good till mahudand but koi rola nai hota... ull c many ppl there in these dates

thanks brother so how much for the jeep fare from mangora to kalam ? and then kalam to liddu ? secondly can we hire a guide or any local who can accompany us i must say your photos on fliker are amazing wanted to share on facebook but there is a restriction lol

Asif Bhai it took us almost 08 hrs to reach Kundol from utror Bazar & track is also very dangerous on some places !

Yes we reached there & did Night stay in camps, it was very cold at night cz a fast & cold wind blow whole night !!!

Yes ! Our Jeep drivers dropped us in Utror Bazar near Masjid & then we tracked all the way to Kundol Lake!
But jeeps can go further a few Km's till destroyed Hotel !!!

nice thread, refreshed my memory when i visited kundol lake in 2006 before army operation in swat.. had been to Kalam 2-3 times before but didnt know much about area except ushu glacier and mahodand lake.. infact we first hired the jeep for mahodand but saw pic of kundol lake in the jeep and decided to go there instead.. the trek was really difficult and at points very narrow.. saw a few casual newcomers coming back from the mid and start of the trek scared.. although i dont had any experience of trekking yet it took us around 3 hrs to reach the lake from laddu.. it also started raining mid of the track but overall very good experience....

han i went till that bridge in jeep then trekked to lake. but on way back it was raining and there was no jeep there so v had to walk all the way to utror bazaar

Bridge near Hotel is also destroyed in flood & now you have to cross the stream from IZMIS lake track, So you have to walk more !!
