Tour De Khujerab Pass & Skardu

We are planning for khujerab pass and skardu trip from lahore in the last week of june 2013 for 9 days.

Please provide some detail information about the following questions,

Questions :

1. Is it safe to travel in the areas mentioned above?
2. what are the places to visit in gilgit and skardu ?
3. what is the total amount required for four persons ?
4. is it safe to cross atta abad lake in our own vehicle ?
5. what is the rent of a car and individual person to cross the atta abad lake ?
6. is there any hotel in khujerab pass?
7. How much would be the fare of Jeep from Skardu to Rama Lake (Astore) and way back ?
8. is it possible to visit kashgar city of china with temporary passes if yes then where to get those passes ?
9. is patrol easily available through out our journey or not?
10. what are the condition of the roads.

Any detailed information regarding tourist places/expenses/hotels would be highly appreciated.

2. what is the rent of a car and individual person to cross the atta abad lake ? not much high to be worry. shud be normal. its public transport.
3. is there any hotel in khujerab pass? Nopes

4. How much would be the fare of Jeep from Skardu to Rama Lake (Astore) and way back ? Please see map to clarify this question.

5. is patrol easily available through out our journey or not? Yes

i dont recomend crosing atabad lake in ur own vehicle its not that safe.. better to leave it at karimabad and travel ahead on rented jeep or car

When I visited in 2011, You can't even take your vehicle upto lake bank due to its nature. Only jeep can move on it at that time. (Last 1 km of road)

Now I am seeing in some images that chinise built platform transferring the vehicles.

But I am not updated. My recommendation also goes with @asifcae to leave ur vehicle at Karimabad.

Regarding fare, I don't think it will be matter of concern. not much high.

Aoa sir, If u want to visit Gilit Baltistan then I can guide u for ur tour to that area(transport,hotel,guide,food,culture). Because Baltistan is my home town & i have led lots of tour to baltistan. I am currently in lahore for details:

friends i am willing .....agar is platform per car cross karwai jai to kya iski booking karwana hogi ya first come first serve ka rule hai. waiting 4 ur reply rana sherdil and asifcae or friends one more question astore say skardu apni car main ja sktay hain ya nahi

agar Rawalpindi se Astore Natco Hiace service chalti hai to mera khyal hai k car bhi ja sakti hai... lekin sirf uss soorat mai jab Bunji (kkh) to astore road block na ho...2nd thing is astore se deosai aur phir skardu jeep ka trek hai...that's my obervation... Guru's can confirm that ?

Yes apni car ma ja saktay hain. Astore to Skardu.

Rawalpindi to Astore. big AC bus chalti ha. Bunji Astore road is usually open year round.

Yes Deosai full traverse is jeep trek. deosai k starting point tak car bhi ja sakti ha. (Upto Sheosar/Kala Pani) from Chillam. But can't go to Bara Pani.. and also can't descend to Skardu.

Individual person ka itna ziada nahi hoga. 100, 200 hi hoga.. (not a matter of concern)

Do google and get Hunza hotel phone, and get info for charges of car.

Jeep rent could be 20K for Skardu Rama and back.
