Dear PW members,
By the Grace of Allah, we MJC successfully came back from the Ratti Gali Lake Expedition. It was a 3 days plan and 22 members participate in this trip. It was a joint event of MJC, Kashmir Travel Service and Neelum Paradise Hikers. Lots of Pics taken and PTV gave us coverage throughout the event. The detail of the trip is as under;
Day 1: Leave Muzaffarabad on Friday after noon around 5pm towards Dawarian Neelum Valley. We were on five 4x4 vehicles, on the way Deputy Commissioner Neelum welcome us at Kundal shahi and took us to the PWD rest house in Athmuqam where he arranged a tea break for the group. After having the tea and chit chat, we left Athmuqam for Dawarian and reached our base camp dawarian around 11pm, took the dinner and go to bed as next day is very tough.
Day 2: Every one get up early at 5.30am, ready for the breakfast and leave dawarian towards the destination around 8.00am. The total distance for the lake from dawarian is 18km from which 10km 4x4 trek is build, the trek is really very challenging as one day before start of the trip there was raining in the area. We crossed 3 bridges on the way which are very narrow and our suv's hardly fits in it. 2 km before the end point of road there is very tough incline slop where only i can manage to take my ride further and rest of the vehicles parked there. We shifted all the stuff on donkeys and start hiking towards the lake. It took us 6 hours to reach the mini lake where we set up our camp for the night. It was very cold there and we decided to stay in local village homes instead of tents. Had BBQ during the night and fall asleep.
Day 3: We get up early at 6.00am took the break fast and headed towards the lake. Its really a dream lake when we first saw it we forgot all the pain fell during the hiking. We stayed there for 2 hours after that move back towards dawarian. Had desi lunch at dawarian and left for Muzaffarabad.
