Detail Story-line written by Sulaimain Bhai @Sulaiman75 : (Thanks a lot Sir)
"From the beginning of time men such as philosophers, thinkers and scientists alike have looked to the heavens for understanding. Through the ages we have found a deeper connection and understanding of the stars and today we poses powerful telescopes to see deep into the night skies and discover the galaxies far far away. An example of the sophistication and magnification of telescopic ability today is the Hubble telescope which sits in the Earth?s Atmosphere looking deep into space for stars, galaxies and nebulas.
On May 3rd, 2014 KTG (Karachi Travellers Group) at PW planned a one day/night excursion for a select few in collaboration with KAAS (Karachi Astronomers Society) and to observe the skies over Sindh using the most powerful telescopes available to us today. Naturally, only those telescopes which were easy to carry were used during the star gazing event. Although the plan was for a few members to join the event but soon it became evident that we had more people than what we were planned to handle and in the end we put a stop on numbers after reaching 60 participants.
We used a combination of two coasters and a few cars headed by the legendary Pak Wheeler Mr. Hanif Bhatti @Libra who lead us to Mirpur Sakro where we set up camps for the night at Mr. HB?s agricultural farm.
It was a sleepless night of star gazing and chit chatting, and most importantly ongoing informative lectures by KAAS regarding the stars, the galaxies and nebulas which most of us had no previous information or understanding of. It should be noted that their knowledge and understanding of the stars was exemplary. They were able to express it in such a way that a common person could easily understand the complexity of the skies and how we all can become star gazers independently should we choose to invest in a decent telescope.
The event was a success with a lovely drive, wonderful dinner, a full night of star gazing, and after a nice warm breakfast, a nice drive back to Karachi on Sunday morning.
Please enjoy the pics and views of the event which I am certain will leave most of us speechless."
