Day9:
We woke up early in the morning so I can reach early in Deosai and spend time there. But when we woke up it was raining cats and dogs. We had breakfast and waited for rain to stop. As rain was not stopping and sky was becoming cloudier, we decided to leave trashing as soon as rain slows down. I asked the hotel chef to boil 6 eggs for us, I donāt know why I did it but I am glad that I did it. After 2 hours of waiting we got our opportunity we loaded our luggage into jeep and left the trashing. We were racing with clouds and rain they were also moving in the same direction we were travelling. After 2 hours of drive we saw first sight of sunlight.
Our next stop was Sheosar Lake. I bought juices, biscuits and snacks from the store. As we were getting closer to the Deosai weather was becoming colder. We reached Chillum around 11:00 am, but the guard on military check post told us that the road to deosai was closed. So we asked other drivers which were also standing there they told us that hopefully army will open the road in 2-3 hours. So we decided to stay at chillum until we receive confirmation that road was opened.
As it was cold outside, we went to a Dhaba type restaurant near the check post. It was proved to be a blessings in disguise, as there was no electricity in Tarshing and batteries of my cameras were already drained. I was worried that it will not be able to take pics of the Deosai. But when we entered the dahaba, I was quite surprised because it had both electricity and wireless telephone (courtesy of military check post). With the permission of the owner I charged the batteries of my cameras.
As we were resting and waiting for road to clear I met another group which were going back to skardu (they were residents of skardu). During the chat they told me that there is a place called āChoota Deosaiā and they said that it is more beautiful than the Deosai. I tried googling it but didnāt found much information about that, appreciate if anyone can share the route or exact location (GPS Coordinates) of the location.
After almost 2 hours we head that that road is open now so we decided to have lunch and left immediately. So we asked Dhabba wala about lunch, there were only dishes available today Daal Mash(which I donāt eat) and Meat. So we ordered meat which was not tender and later turned out to be the Meat of Yark. You need some super jaws to chew this meat, I could not swallow even a single bite of it.
Batteries were not fully charged but because we were already behind scheduled time we left as soon as driver finish his lunch. Our Next stop was Sheosar Lake. Weather was very cold due to overcast conditions.
Following are the pics of route.
