Well ref to my previous post Khan Pur Dam The Beautiful Dam I would also like to Add the dam of my city "Rawal dam is my family dam" as me & my family use to visit Rawal Dam after every two three days as my brother in law lives in Bani Gala very very next to Rawal Dam ifact on Bank of the Rawal dam.
We did boating on Rawal Dam last sunday.Kids were very happy as it was a very sunny day & they enjoy the ride.

Rawal Dam is full upto its max capacity now a days,Although its not beautiful like Khan pur dam but still has its own beauty.

Ducks again there were 100s of them.Next time I will go with gun.
My brother in laws house along Rawal Dam (Bani Gala) & A boat belongs to My Brother In law.Its Mercury InboarD 150 HP chasing my boat .
By the end of the day My Willys MB was pulling the Boat out of the water.

Beatiful Dam, gr8 Photography, Nice Boat and Cute Kids !

Btw, good to see you wear safety jackets ! Friends of mine fell in the dam without a jacket and was abt 15 foot deep before someone pulled him out ! He also said that DAM water pulls u down due to currents!

Is that true ?

No.Private boats are not wellcome in Rawal dam.U have to get membership from Pakistan Navy (Sailing club) or from the private Launch comunity.
I got membership on my Brother Col.Amir Shehzads Name.
For civilians its Rs:17,000/- per anum & for Armed forces its Free

Dam do not have the upthrust which running water such as rivres have. Irregularities, gravel and stones throughs the running water back up, like wise any body in it. Canals are specifically designed with irregular bed.

In the sea, salt in the water makes a body bouy. A man can float on the surface of The well known Dead sea (called becuase of virtually no sea life) because of the high level of salts in it.

Now comming to the question. ...dam water pulls u down...
In the dam,
1. These is no upthrust of River
2. The water is fresh i.e. no salt
3. The weight of still water, which super imposes the drowning tendency.
