I predict the BMW market, once established, to soar in Pakistan. There is a demand from the 5% for the new luxury cars. Unfortunately, to get an imported luxury car, one would have to pay even more than what I think is fair. I think that 100% is fair, 150% is still too much. I mean, for a $50,000 car, with the current rules, it would cost an additional $75,000 plus additional taxes, tag, import costs, etc. I mean come on, $25,000 we can save can go on education or something. The government wastes the money anyways.
The government should protect the consumer first, and then the automanufacturing company. When the demand exceeds supply, that's when you allow importers to compete. Automobile Manufacturers are denying the consumer a quality car.
