Japanese automaker will discontinue sales of the two hybrid models before the 2015 model-year in Europe.
A Honda spokesman confirmed the discontinuation and information on those models has been taken off of Honda's official websites in Germany, Spain and Italy. The European embrace of all things diesel and fuel efficient as well as competition from Toyota are the primary culprits.
Combined, both models sold less than 2,000 units in Europe last year.
Honda is having trouble moving the Jazz Hybrid (also known as the Fit) in Europe as well. European sales declined about 40 percent last year to around 4,500 units. Those numbers compare rather unfavorably to a 43 percent surge in Toyota's hybrid sales in Europe to about 153,000 units.
The Insight face same fate in the US. Last year, US Insight sales fell 18 percent to 4,802 units, a small, small challenge to the more than 234,000 Toyota Prius variants sold in the US in 2013.
The report from Bloomberg notes that the Insight hasn't amounted to even a tenth of Prius sales in US and even then, well over half of those sold were in the Japan Domestic Market. Honda reportedly has 237 days' worth of inventory stockpiled, but dealers are said to have been told to stop taking orders.
Of course, it's possible that the Insight will remain in production for a while to service other markets potentially Japan only. The decision casts the future of the CR-Z into doubt as well, as the three-door model relies on a similar generation of Honda hybrid technology, and it's the only model in the automaker's lineup that actually sells fewer examples than the Insight.
The future generation of these two models even in Japan might not come in production.
Honda Civic which is most sold and loved model, even its Hybrid trim has not met the expected sales.

Bet hybrid system batteries will soon be replaced with normal AGS and Exide 200amp ones. I am sure we will find some new innovative ways and get ready to read about many fried mechanics too...

The price of the CR-Z in Pakistan was a sure sign that it would not sell here. And the hybrid technology principle that Honda uses is a bit different from Toyota. As far as I know, in the Honda, the engine runs continuously regardless of the car's speed, whereas in a Toyota hybrid the engine shuts off once the car is stopped and even when the car starts moving till a certain speed the electric batteries propel the car. This is not possible in a Honda hybrid. One reason for worse fuel mileage than a Toyota hybrid.

honda US is focusing more into new accord hybrid, new honda jazz hybrid and honda civic hybrid, honda accord sales in US has increased a lot since new shape came last year

honda civic hybrid still selling better than honda cr-z n insight as new honda civic engine displacement is 1500cc new engine compare to previous shape 1300cc honda civic.....honda accord hybrid just came like 6-8months back in the mid of 2013....let see wat r the results of 2014
