Welcome to Day 2
Today's plan was to visit Chitral Gol National Park and then continue to Kalash Valley.
We got up around 6 a.m. and i was introduced to the super lazy speed of this year's group in getting ready in the morning
Average time was 3.5-4 hours and went to 5 hrs as well. A group of 12 should be done and ready to jump into jeeps within 2 hrs max but this year's experience was totally opposite.
Anyways, we finished the breakfast and departed for Chitral Gol National Park after refilling the tanks at 11 a.m.
It took us 1 hour to reach the Summer Palace. The forest rest house is further up and it takes around 30 min drive till that point. Both these locations are up on the background mountains of Chitral city.
As we gained altitude, the weather got better and views also got really amazing. You can see whole Chitral Valley on both sides from Summer Palace. The views of Deodar trees were amazing. You can also see Terich Mir from this point in a very clear way.
We decided to trek down till summer palace from the forest rest house so that everyone can get ample time to take pictures and make compositions.
Departure time was agreed at 3 p.m. as we had to reach Kalash before sunset.
The whole team enjoyed this part of the day to the fullest and took lots of shots and were at meeting point before 3 except 2.
And those 2 got us late by 1 hour :S As a result, we started the descend to Chitral at 4 p.m.
When we reached Chitral, Usman got an emergency call from home and he had to leave for Gujranwala to attend his family. So, we arranged a rented car for him and said him goodbye in Chitral and left for Kalash at 6 p.m.
Sunset happened when we were passing through the road in Ayun Village that enters the Kalash Valleys. We reached the checkpost when still some light was left. The road was quite narrow in start and couple of crossings were tough specially for bigger vehicles.
We reached PTDC Bamburet around 8:30 p.m. We had one room already booked there and rest was camping space allocated to us near the same room. The lawn is amazing and filled with roses of different colors.
We also had ordered BBQ while still in Chitral and the things were ready for us when we reached here. It was an amazing dinner full of fun and the whole group enjoyed a lot.
Some went for night photography session while others went to sleep.
Night stay in PTDC Bamburet, Kalash Valley.
