Let's start the Grand Trip 2014 
Event, discussions, queries started quite a while back and in the end, we were 12 persons for Chitral trip in June this year.
11 of us departed from Lahore on night of 9 June 2014 at 11 p.m. through Daewoo Express. The destination was Hari Pur where jeeps would pick us for the rest of the tour. Shehzad joined us from Pindi during Daewoo stopover so the group united in Pindi and carried on journey till Hari Pur in Daewoo.
We reached Hari Pur on time and immediately packed our luggage to depart for the long journey till Chitral. The start was good and we were on road by 6 a.m.
The route was Hari Pur - Sirrikot - Topi - Swabi - Mardan. The initial patch from KKH till Sirrikot is in bad shape and under construction while rest of the road was in good condition till Mardan.
We stopped in Swabi bazaar for some shopping as we had plans for brunch in Khaurak Mahal in Chakdarra.
It took us almost 6 hrs to reach Chakdarra and Khaurak Mahal. The brunch was delicious and we left the place around 1:15 p.m.
Then started the never ending ride till Lowari Top. We entered Dir area around afternoon time so pushed the group to reach the top before sunset. We reached Lowari Top at sunset time and one jeep got a tyre puncture.
We left the top nearly at 8 p.m. and stopped for tea at the other end of the tunnel.
The journey continued and by 10 p.m. we were too much tired so tried to find hotel in Drosh and Ayun but were out of luck there. So, didn't have choice but to continue till Chitral. We reached PTDC Chitral at 12:30 a.m. finally and dumped ourselves in the rooms after a failed attempt to eat Freshmate cooked rice.
Night stay in PTDC Chitral. We got rooms for Rs.2200 per room and this is the only PTDC where lesser rate rooms were available and in all other places, rate was standard Rs.3200 per room.
