So I have received delivery of my Civic X Oriel UG yesterday in Steel Metallic color. Already have a 2016 model in Lunar SIlver.
Some observations:
* The steering feels a little harder as compared to the earlier one. Could it be the newness factor?
* The steering is also tilted by a couple of degrees, I reckon, same as earlier. Tried getting the earlier one fixed by Honda, but gave up after a couple of tries. Will not bother with this one.
* Build quality feels better in this one and I am yet to find the very visible quality issues that the 2016 model was plagued with.
* Drive also feels improved. Even the tires feel quieter. Again, could be the newness factor, but the tires are pretty new in the 2016 one too.
* The doors feel a little lighter, which is a good thing for me.
* New wheels are much better looking, imo. So are the headlights and the facelift.
* The trunk is improved wrt padding and carpeting. The 2016 one didn't even have a inside cover and I had to get an after market one later along with carpet.
* Auto retracting mirrors when locking the car are a good touch.
* Front and back cameras are very bad, much worse than those in 2016.
* Infotainment is slightly better, but overall the experience is very similar. Honda could easily fit a better and bigger one for this price and space, but they continue on with this crap.
I have some budget for after market modifications. Thinking of getting the tires changed. Has any member recently replaced their stock ones with Yokohamas or Continentals? How much is the damage after netting the stock tires? What other things could one look to improve? Is Ceramic quoting a good idea? Car is super new right now so the shine is there so don't see the value right now. But will it be the same 2 years down the line? What are your thoughts?
