So, here's a sad story with a somewhat happy ending.
I bought a Civic X last month in some haste. The previous owner had told me it was his father's car and that they had installed tracker which he will take out. On the delivery day, he confirmed that tracker has been disabled. I took the car and drove it without issues in the city.
Last night, I took the car to Gharo and on the return journey the car refused to start. I called the previous owner who wad adamant that the car has some other issue has he himself got tracker removed. I then decided to get a mechanic involved. Long story short, I fetched an electrician from Karachi who tracked the tracker which was still fully active and took it out. The car started fine right after that.
The previous owner turned out to be a broker and was lying all the time. No surprise. I am not used to buying old cars, so I might have missed some major things. But there are some questions:
Is there a way to find out if the car has some safety device? We can't rely on the gunk that comes out of sellers's mouths these days.
Is tracker really that effective? It took a good electrician just 10 mins to find and deactivate it.
Should I reveal the identity of the lying dealer / broker who acts like a pious / honest person and yet lies and deceives people so easily?
