As far as I remember, the 2016 turbos were tuned for higher power output which required hi-octane for proper functioning. But eventually, Honda realized that it did more bad than good as many people did not use hi-octane and it caused knocking and blown motors in few cases. As a result, later turbos were detuned from factory and worked fine on normal fuel. Moreover, affected models were also recalled for detuning.
