Steering Controls Install

Time Taken: 60 minutes (can be done in much less time if you really don't care how the electrician does it and inflicting scratches/scuffs)

Labour Cost: Rs.500 (Simple grip to grip install if you have genuine OEM Grande Spiral Cable/Clock Reel/Spring)
Rs.2700-3000 (Connection/wiring will be done in your own existing Spiral cable)

Items Required: Steering controls (OEM Toyota Max 8800/-, Chinese "dont know"), Horn Pad / Cover (OEM Toyota 4000/-), Spiral cable (OEM Toyota NEW 13,000-13,500/-) OR Spiral alteration (2700-3000/-)<-------Already mentioned above

Got the tank almost full at PSO Pump near Foreign Office Islamabad. Headed towards Monal restaurant with a bone-stock "Hornet" to settle the issue once and for all. Two people (total 150 Kgs), weight of the fuel in tank (Approximately 45 Kgs) and AC (put on after almost 4 minutes into the roll) to simulate additional load and drag on the engine. Please note that this is not about the Hornet competing against cars with higher displacement of 1.8 and above. Its about how well it can do and how well it can sustain while doing what it was made to do.

Yes please .. make 4 people sit in gli and make a trip to monal .. if it successfully reaches monal it should be good enough for rest of hilly areas of Pakistan where a normal sedan is suppose to go .. kala bagh officers mess for example

Spot on, I felt like a Jack A** when I saw a couple on a CG125 enroute. I just don't know why we spread rumors so horribly fast. Not once did I hear or feel the engine struggling. Baqi jitna gur dalo gey utna meetha hoga. But I'm happy for the decision of 1.3 as against 1.6

Its not that its not a good buy. Its just the tyre profile to go with this car keeping in view it's height (COG) and handling characteristics. A notch up from the OE 195/65-R15 within the same wheel size i.e, 15" is definitely a 205/65-R15 but I would have preferred 205/60-R15 (if there was one available). Not just to reduce the tyre wall height for cosmetic reasons but to get it to be more grippy for cornering. I'm just not very comfortable with too much air in a large tyre wall height.
But that is personal preference and it may or may not apply to you.

Applies to me. improves the car handling surely. m using 195/50/15 in my margallah and will low seating position and sharp turn in gives so much more feed back and driving experience is enhanced.

besides the traction rating of tyres only increase once profile goes down. you might not be able to find AA rating in 195/65/15.

Yes the visibility was pathetic and that's why I installed genuine Philips Crystal Vision. The visibility and white shade now are nothing less than extraordinary. Just don't attempt to install HID/Xenon Kits. As for your ride, try to search for quality scuff plates (illuminated or non-illuminated). Aluminium pedal set, Steering controls (full options). These are small items and you can bring along easily and are definitely worth it.

still better option could have been extreme vision.

Can you tell me about the chrome latch, where did you get it from and the total cost for the steering control job including parts. I have seen the break up about but confused about the total cost. Also confirm the shop from where i can get OEM steering controls

Chrome door latch (OEM Toyota) set of four is going to cost you around 4000/- through a contact who sourced them for me from Thailand. They were packed in Toyota genuine packaging. Got them verified for authenticity and fitted for free at one of the 3S Toyota.

Option 1 (Plug n Play): OEM Toyota (Full Options Steering Controls + Horn Pad/Cover + Spiral Cable) = 26,000/-

Option 2 (Half Alteration): Full Steering Controls + Horn Pad/Cover + Connections in Existing Spiral Cable) = 16,000/-

Option 3 (Full Alteration): Full Steering Controls + Alteration in Existing Horn Cover and Existing Spiral Cable) = 12,500/-
