MashaAllah Fouad bhai really nice videos, the gli A/T performed really well and climbed effortlessly.

It all depends on the driver. I have seen a 2.0d corolla get stuck on of the turns and despite all its efforts it still wasnt able to climb.

Types of people in various scenarios who will say the 1.3 is under powered, can't climb or overtake ..
1. Dealers/Honda people while selling a Civic
2. Dealers/Honda people while selling a City (Their biggest "trying to lure you in" selling point)
3. Dealers/Toyota people who see you dangling between 1.3 Gli Auto and 1.6 Altis
4. Dealers/Toyota people who need to meet the sale target of 1.6 Altis.
5. Owners who justify the decision that their 1.6 is superior in every way. I don't blame them.
6. People who just claim that the 1.6 as compared to 1.3 has a very big di** (i meant displacement).

Bro you are right, but at the back of our mind we all know that 120 HP is always better than 88 HP specially when we know that the consumption of 1.6 is likely to be a bit better than 1 NZ-FE.

i would say no point in arguing, 1.3 just do the job perfectly and since the intention is to save bucks its a perfect decision.

Just watched the videos.

suggestions from my end would be to give an occasional reference of the RPM and the speedo to have a better idea.

Also keep the window closed while filming. I assume you dont smoke :).

And turning on the AC while climbing, since unfortunately we pakistani's need to run the AC on most of the time due to hot weather conditions.

just for reference i happened to be on the same route that day toyota were testing their new corolla test vehicles in ISB on the Monal route and they really smoked it several times just to make sure that vehicle works perfectly on the climb and it does.

Off topic: I'm sharing my own experience here. 2 years back i was driving my Frnds Alto & we were 4 frnds in the local made Alto. It easily climbed up to the monal restaurant & there was no pressure on the engine.

Thank you all for the kind and supporting words / encouragement. Yes, that stupid Nissan driver.....was really a close call. A lot depends upon the driver's experience and skill. In such areas, the performance more or less becomes the same. In fact I'd prefer a sub compact car with even smaller turning radius, reliable brakes and nice all round visibility from inside.

Very well explained. You must have seen that I also support the 1.6 Altis in contrast to 1.3 GLi Auto but the tactics played by IMC in this regard are not remarkable. In one gen the same engine/tranny setup is a GLi and in the next it becomes an Altis. Maybe in the 12th Gen Corolla they push it back to GLi?
Anyways, people like us who need to play around with their cars, add things and enjoy the immense satisfaction that may need to have extra cash for it. Both are good cars. If the difference in both were remarkable at a reasonable price difference this thread would have been about a 1.6 Altis, hands down. I'm surprised over how much IMC has stripped down the 1.6 version of basic things that usually come standard with an Altis badge.
