Civic X ground clearance: 153 mm
Sportage groud clearance : 172 mm
Corolla Ground Clearance: 170-175 mm (different regions)
there are many takeaways: some times i think these Crossovers are a joke. The only advantage they seem to have is the approach angle. also, civic drive is not comfy. i can say because i find yaris to be literally more comfy then civic. but this is due to the fact that civic suspension is tuned for high speed. Anything over 120kmph and civic has a major advantage. And may be this is the reason why people preffer Corolla because its bland and boring but is tuned for Pakistani enviornment by default.
following is a good read from pakwheels article.
Corolla
1."Major benefit of using this system is that it’s cheaper and easier to design. It gets the job done by saving the cost for the manufacturer. Also since this configuration is fairly simple, it is also lighter in weight. Small front wheel drive cars benefit from this suspension. It is narrower than double wishbone and works great for front wheel drive cars."
2"One of the cons of this kind of suspension is, that it’s taller than double wishbone. That can end up making the car ride higher to make is sufficiently comfortable. Also in cornering when there is heavy body roll, the MacPherson will not be able to keep the tyre contact with the road as compared to double wishbone suspension."
Civic
"The good thing about this kind of suspension is that when you go up and down on bumpy road, the wheel travels vertically and the camber angle doesn’t change. But if you are cornering, your camber angle changes because of the body roll. You basically want maximum amount of contact with the road when cornering, and this type of suspension provides great amount of control over that. On the flip side, its complicated, and is expensive to develop."
