Mohtaram @wolfkhan Sahib,
After reading the relevant threads on the new 2014 Toyota Corolla I gather that there is nothing new in the car. It is an old wine in new bottles. The only thing new is a CVT transmission with paddle shifters. The exterior is new too. The engine is also the older one with no immobiliser. I'm a huge Toyota fan but at the same time I've been very disappointed by this 'old wine in new bottles.'
IMC nay sirf zahiri polish kar dee hay apnee puranee Cowrolla ko. Just imagine my 2005 Baleno has an immobiliser and a 2014 11th generation Corolla doesn't.
We the consumers should boycott such a product. Imagine paying IMC millions and getting trash in return. IMC is even a party to the Mafia which wants a total ban on all imports so that we all are forced to buy trash from the local 'trash' assemblers giving us PKDMs. They know that if quality cars like JDMs and UKDMs (United Kingdom Domestic Market) are allowed to be imported into Pakistan, they will go out of business.
Full marks to the then Musharraf Government which allowed 3 year old used cars into Pakistan in 2006. I remember one had to wait for about one year after booking the IMC 'trash' Cowrolla in 2005 but by the end of 2006 all the 'OWN' was wiped out as the market was flooded with used quality JDMs. The 'OWN' was about Rs. 150,000 on a single XLi before the used car import was allowed.
APMDA (All Pakistan Motors Dealers Association) fought for the import of used cars for years after the Benazir Government banned their import in the 1990s.
Today we all should fight for our rights so that we are not cheated by the local car assemblers who are passing us a substandard product. I thought IMC had learnt her lesson but no because we have forgotten to teach her the same.
No offence please.
Regards.
