2nd Day
Our goal was to reach Bahawalpur by 5 pm at the latest, check-in at the Circuit House (booked by a friend), freshen up, and then visit Noor Mahal for sound and light show. The distance from Pano Aqil Cantt to Bahawalpur is approximately 350 km, which would take approximately 5 hours of driving via Sukkur - Multan Motorway (M5).
After relishing a hearty breakfast at Pano Aqil Cantt, we departed for Bahawalpur at around 10 am and made a stop at Sadiqabad Service Area for petrol and tea. After driving for 229 km on M5, Google Maps presented us with two options to reach Bahawalpur: either exit from Tranda Muhammad Panah Interchange or continue on M5 and take the Jalalpur Pirwala Interchange and enter Bahawalpur via Jalalpur Pirwala - Lodhran Road.
We opted for the first option and exited from Tranda Muhammad Panah Interchange, driving an additional 94 km on N5 to reach Bahawalpur. This route is 23 km shorter and the overall condition of N5 here is quite good. The surrounding area is adorned with lush green fields on both sides of the road, providing picturesque views. We made several mini stops to capture the beauty of the scenery, eventually reached Bahawalpur by 4:00 pm.
As we reached earlier than anticipated, we used the extra time to visit Darbar Mahal and Gulzar Mahal.

The highlight of our trip to Bahawalpur city was undoubtedly the light and sound show at Noor Mahal. I must say, it was an absolute treat to watch, as the atmosphere, sound, and lighting effects simply mesmerized us. The show lasted for 15 to 20 minutes, after which we took a tour inside Noor Mahal. Our guide briefed us about different Nawabs and their contributions to Pakistan at the time of independence.
After our visit to Noor Mahal, we headed to a local restaurant for a delicious dinner. Their BBQ was particularly outstanding. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the restaurant.
