The car is ready to receive the final coat of paint. However due to the situation on ground combined with heavy rains the staff at the painters are sitting twiddling their thumbs. I hope the situation improves soon. I will keep you posted. Thank you for your interest.

The car is at the painters still. We have lost a lot of time due to several reasons. First I pulled the car back from the painters as I was leaving for Canada and the US. When I returned it was the rains and the workload of the painter that prevented any work to commence. The car stayed at my home until about 10 days ago. More rains but we have been making progress. The whole car has been wet sanded to remove any specks of rust that may have formed on the bare metal surface during the storage phase. Today the fenders have been removed to treat them separately, meanwhile exposing the areas that are usually out of sight when the fenders are in place. The doors are also going to be removed and painted separately. This would ensure that no area is left out from receiving a coat of paint. The forecast for the next couple of days is for more rain but I am hoping work would continue indoors on the parts removed from the body shell. I will share pictures soon.

A lot has been happening in the past several weeks that I did not have time to update this thread. Every inch of the body shell has been scrubbed (wet sanded) clean of any rust that had reappeared during the time it was stored away. I wanted to be present to supervise the paint so I put the project on hold when I was in Canada.

all the removable body panels were removed and primered after being meticulously wet sanded. The body shell was attended to in the same fashion and primered

Every removable panel primered. I could almost drive the car in just this condition. Even the areas that are going to be hidden out of sight are being attended to with the same care.

The secret to saying bye bye to rust is to protect the unseen sections such as closed box parts as being done here. Bravo!!

The 4-tab hood. The reason i share these pictures is to stress that if you wish to see a blemish free surface after the car rolls out of the paint booth, you need to ensure that the surface preparation has been carried out with utmost care and precision.
Another reason to include the pre primer pictures is to show how little, if any, body filler has been used and the panel beating has been done to ensure this.
