Ok...first of all, the blame for this punga HAS to fall upon Hassan Azeem. Fair and square.
Agar yeh bhai mujhe Pindi mein bikne wali '65 Impala ke baare mein na batata...tau mujhe iss kee khabar bhi na hoti.
So...for all practical purposes, the blame for this purchase, HAS to fall upon Hassan. Like I said.
The '65 Impala which he told me about...is...beautiful.
Absolutely, utterly, amazingly, all-encompassingly, overwhelmingly...beautiful.
It's been the prized possession of a lovely young man, who is a great car enthusiast, and everything on the vehicle speaks volumes of the love, affection and attention to detail he has showered upon the car.
In brief, the car is an original LHD 1965 Impala, with absolutely NOTHING on it that isn't original. The decals the lights, the switches, gauges, the seats...everything is absolutely stock, and in perfect shape.
The engine and transmission are the only departure from this "original theme" and is pretty much in line with what I had planned for the restomod, anyways. The engine and transmission are the 2JZ-GTE combo (from the mighty Toyota Supra RZ / Turbo JZA80). The engine is a straight six, twin-turbo-charged, 24 valve unit (the export version) which puts out 310 bhp in stock condition. However, this engine has been known to reliably cater for up to 1000 bhp, with the stock engine block, and without any need for additional forging! What a beast! Definite experiments will be made to up this figure of 310 towards the 500 odd brake horsepower range.
The wheels are pretty decent looking 16 inch rims, clad in 215/55/16 Bridgestone tyres.
The interior is well done up. The paint is decent looking. Overall, it's completely stunning looking.
Out of respect for the current owner, I'm not going to post pictures of the beast until I've taken a hold of it by tomorrow afternoon, and paid the rest of the money. But as for now...I'm just so bloody happy about this deal. Kudos to the current owner for being a true sporting enthusiast and keeping it in such good condition for ME!
