Try taking off the fan belt and running the engine for a minute. If it is the generator bearing it should go away when you run the engine without the fan belt. if you still hear the sound its your worst fear...
Like many times before, took the words out of my mouth....
Try again when the engine is warm. Hold a candle stick or a bar of soap touching the fan belt side. First one then the other side as the engine is running. It should cure the squeaking of the belt. CAUTION: watch your fingers..
Your neighbours are going to hate you if you run the engine at this hour. Its best to go for a quick run around the block and it would warm up the car nicely..however I wouldn't recommend it at 5 am.
hopefully a false alarm but replace the pulley just to be sure and avoid any damage due to an out of balance pulley.I'd give her a good run during the day and THEN check the play. We tried 'warm' lets try 'hot' now.Celebrations can begin if there still is no appreciable change in end play
HOLY SMOKES!!! that's aloot of work in a very short time frame. last time i checked this thread you were doing the wheels,.. you've been super busy and have managed to do allot of work. keep it up!
that is good news. I guess you can clean and treat these bolts when you take your car apart..(whenever that might be) It is a good idea to procure several spares as some of the bolts can get damaged when removing.
