hmm didnt know that people were advocating to block off the heater tubes, cooling of the exhaust is mandatory to cool down the cylinder heads on this engine, And having the barrel tins and under tins too helps a lot as air fights to get out hence picking up the greatest amount of heat.

Okay I have a question...what is the ideal pipe to use for the windscreen vents on my bug, i twisted my neck and saw the collar is still in place in the endless pit under the hood hinge, now what pipe can i put on it there?

I agree completely, only reason I blocked off the vents in my fan shroud on my thing us that my particular car never had heater tubes. Seems the fan shroud was changed some time in its life (though it has a correct doghouse).

Anyone who removes the lower tins should be shot, sadly our local ustaads think they serve no purpose,... Which explains all the broken fins on most VW engines in pk.
