skilled panel beaters in Pakistan usually also take lots of short cuts or get bored. If you are the project handler and know how to speak to metal - it may work out pretty well.

i may not know enough of how to speak to metal myself but i definitely know what gadget would do the job correctly and have past experience to put the right gadgets to use

beside other tiny metal shaping gadgets, for floors, i have bead roller, pneumatic planishing hammer and shrinker/stretcher (will also be used for windscreen channels). also have english wheel to do the complex curves and panels

lets wait until its time to put them all to work and we'll see

all i needed were correct profiles and i had help from an english friend who had a NOS sill/rocker panel to stencil out the profiler

front floors on my pella were replaced by patch work so i needed front floor profiles, its where an aussie friend came to help. with correct gadgets, these are now a walk in the park

if you are picky abt the under the throttle pedal curves, i have the profiles on my pella and this is where pneumatic planishing hammer comes to rescue to produce these perfect curves

that stencil you show up there for the sills - I used to make them in wood. - even for whole door skins too to get some oddball curve into a stencil (Galant 8th gen doors e.g.)

Now - you obviously have a whole smithy shop going on where you are - the results should be at par with Toyo Kogyo themselves.

stencils are the greatest help for bending / beating the metal into shape and have been used for decades may be even over a century. the trick with stencils is to have a perfect starting point, such as NOS pieces to attain the exact factory shape.

yeah the little smithy shop i have put together in years. carried some in bits and pieces in my luggages on a trip abroad each time, sometimes a relative or a friend helped even. good thing is, that i have all the necessary tools to go by this rebuild and make it all look too easy, without the customary hammer/planishing anvil thak thak

having said all that english wheel is the fun of them all to play with. only the other day when i was fishing its anvils (a new brand new spare set) out of my parts boxes, i realized those little metal tablets were actually a god send to attain even the most complex shaped curves even on the trickiest car shapes.

Yes - the starting point was the tricky part - this included me bribing a person with dinner or something so I could borrow their car for a day so I could make the stencils of what I needed.

finally was able to scrap off the belly and it is now all set to be blasted and primered before it could be worked on. which would follow once the shell has been completely blasted and primered

well it sure isn't in this part of the world but it is common knowledge abroad. well yeah sure, why not. that is exactly why this thread was started otherwise i have been building cars for quite some time now. just never thought of putting it all up on a thread anywhere, up till now

true but the fact of the matter is, its scarcity of free time with all those amazing ppl these days which is a limitation on any such venture/institution. however, having said so, threads could be a means of transfer of such knowledge, if only, those amazing ppl are willing to stuff their threads with useful info rather than just filling the threads with pictures holding back the real information that could be useful to actually carry out a job. i hope i am able to explain my point without offending anyone
