someone has put quiet some effort in it already
according to personal taste and budget that is
looks like a fun project and putting the ls1 engine in this particular car makes sense (in my opinion)

To me interior looks great. But I am sorry I think door and fender should be level.

Absolutely right. One must bear in mind that this is a 40 year old car. And for it to be in such good shape, speaks volumes about the previous owners' commitment and hard work. I've already thanked two of these previous owners, for having kept this baby in such good shape.

A rough estimate is about 6 months. Six weeks for the engine swap, wiring, exhaust, suspension, and engine bay ergonomics and aesthetics. Eight weeks for the body work. Four weeks for paint. Two weeks for the interior. A couple of weeks for the sound system, air-conditioning, miscellaneous tests and trials. Four weeks unforeseen.

No, you're absolutely right, brother. The front fender is loose, and needs to be reaffixed. We're going to ensure that all the correct lines and seams are absolutely perfect, God willing. And the interior is going to be redone, after all.

The Camaro actually became famous for the flared 'love handles' at the rear, before Jennifer Lopez made them fashionable

We'll certainly be looking into the possibilities of accentuating these curves rather than lessening them. Depending on the wheels and tyres, we may be using wider fender flares at the rear.

Have a suggestion.......the rear lights are from a third gen camaro. You can get the original second gen '74 ones from ebay. They would look nicer.

BTW, this car was owned by a very close friend of mine, years ago. The front fender scoops were from an '80 camaro and he brought them from S.Arabia and the hood scoop was copied in sheet metal from a sample L88 scoop. At that time it sported the original rear lights. When he sold it off, the new owner installed '76 Pontiac Firebird lights..........and then finally, i guess someone used these 3rd gen ones.

To be honest, I'm more fond of the early 2nd Gen lights (the twin round ones from 1971-72) than I am of the original 1974 lights. And I actually like the 3rd Gen ones more than the 1974 ones, too. I know...weird, huh?

One of the previous owners happens to be a good friend of mine, too. I had an idea that the fender scoops and the hood scoop were aftermarket alterations. I may just stick with them, or think up some alternatives. Time will tell.

Over so many years, the car has undergone a fair amount of mods. And it's about to undergo a very BIG one now, in terms of the engine and transmission that are going into it. To be honest, thus, maintaining "originality" isn't very high on my list of priorities. What IS high, are a combination of aesthetics, performance, ergonomics, and function. Again, let's see what comes out of this all.

Well, I myself believe in improving upon what the factory churned out years ago..
I have a 1979 nose on my 1971. Purists might scoff, but its what I prefer.

The LS is a very popular transplant. Electronic fuel management and better heads give it a solid advantage over the classic sbc. However, the 'rough around the edges' appeal of the old, uncomplicated carbureted engines is in a league of its own......again, in my humble opinion:D.
