July 31st - Peshawar Continued
We were on Motorway since 12am till around 11am. That's 11 hours. Sleep Deprived, tired and on top of it, right where our car broke down, on the other side of the road, there was a major accident, a Bolan crashed into a Cultus, both cars totaled, Both had families in them. Fortunately no fatalities, Even though the Bolan went flying 5 feet in the air and landed on its roof. This Day couldn't get worse.
Reached Peshawar around 12:30.
Dropped the car at the Mechanic.
To top it all, this guy didnt speak a word of Urdu, understood very less, Hand gestures and a kid who understood Urdu were my friends. They opened the wheel, confirmed it was the bearing that broke. Me and the mechanic left for Shoba to find the parts.
Found the bearings and whatever else was needed to fix the wheel and then started searching for the Subframe and other parts.
What we found there? ZILCH.... NADA... NISHTA.... Fuck All. The borders had been closed for some time now which meat no cars were coming in. All the stuff they had in Shoba was either from stock or they were importing from Lahore or Karachi. Depressing stuff. Uptil now, I had spent about 25k on this trip (Fuel, Brake service + bearings in Pindi, Recovery service, Bearing parts etc) and the car was in the exact condition it left Lahore in.
Shoba:
The only good thing I found in this trip, is this:
This my friends is called Ghuay Chaawal which simply translates to Rice and Bull. And that is what it was - Pulao with Bull meat. Trust me when I tell you that I have had Amazing Pulaos - but this, this was a whole new level . Right in the center of Shoba Market, this was a treat.
Anyhow, left Shoba, got the bearing installed Spent the night in Peshawar and left for Lahore the next morning. Depressed AF!!
