1985 lhd porsche 924 2.0

Dear fellow Pakwheels members,

I wanted to know the value of a Porsche 924 in Pakistan. In the UK they are currently worth in the region of ?5000. That is for a very tidy example. I am going to buy one in the near future. It is a 1985 model in yellow. It is a manual lhd with a sunroof. It has been parked in an elderly fellow's garage for about 16 years without being driven. This car is one extremely rare find and one that has very low mileage on top of excellent body work. How much would a car such as this be worth in Pakistan and if i was to sell the car to someone in Pakistan? What would the procedure be and what costs would there be for me? You can not import a 1985 model car due to Pak government restriction. Only 2014-16 models can be imported.

You can bring it to Pakistan by road but it has to go back within a certain time period , if not you have to pay the duties and get it registered. You have to pay a huge deposit before exporting the car as security that you wont permanently use the car in Pakistan

This car barely exists here , maximum one or two

And you are talking about a Left hand drive car , Pakistan has RHD cars

No one can tell you the exact price. Simple answer its not worth it to bring here

Im sure you are aware of the fact that Porsche is known for their flat 6 engines. Of course these engines have never been mounted in a front engined Porsche from factory. These engines are insanely expensive. However Subaru did make a flat 6 engine aswell. The engine is called an eg33. It is basically a flat 4 with 2 more cyclinders. Therefore it is much more compact. Could this engine be sourced in Pakistan and then swapped into my 924? Do you recommend anyone that is skilled enough to perform the swap. ( The engine is found in an Subaru SVX )

Even if you find a subaru or porsche engine in the scrap yards here it would be in really bad condition and spare parts availability is close to none. My personal advice to you would be if you love Porsches go for a later model with the appropriate engine like a Carrera or even a Boxter they are not too expensive in UK and would be a better package overall.

There are skilled mechanics but the majority are just the ones that cut corners on swaps , which is dangerous. So you need the right person for the right car

I want to visit Pakistan to get the swap done and then drive back. If i brought the eg33 engine to Pakistan. Would i be able to get the swap done professionally and safely ?

Actually scrap that. Forget about the eg33. Its too heavy. It will ruin the 50/50 weight distribution of the 924. However i have found an engine that is lighter than the factory engine and produces more power. It is called an 1uzfe. Its a toyota v8. Is this engine obtainable in Pakistan ?

1JZ , 2JZ , 1UZFE V8 are widely available here as i stated in my previous post. Any of these would be fine , the thing is you can completely rely on the mechanic to find solutions and make every modification. You need a certain amount of knowledge yourself which you have to gather from similar swaps , asking around at forums etc.

I dont know how it will be to mate any of these engines to the gearbox as the 924 has a rear mounted gearbox if im not wrong

That would cost around 1000? , dont know the price of gearbox as they usually come as auto.

Yeah. Youre right. Its probably best that i get the swap done in the UK. Then ill be able to go pretty damn fast on the autobahn during my journey to Pakistan in a couple of years time.:):P(H)

You can bring the car under a specific scheme in which you have to take it back within an year I believe.Driving car from UK to Pakistan should be a life time trip, but not sure if it would be advisable with this car. This is a very rare car and probably you can find some one in VCCP to help you out. Value of the car is hard to asses because it is extremely uncommon to find such car for sale.
