Lets start Day 4
Woke up early around 4: 30 a.m. though i had slept just a couple of hours back.
Plan was to climb Rush Pari peak but weather was cloudy over the peaks and there was no chance of seeing K2 as i could hardly see any peak in my surroundings. All tops were covered in clouds.
Still we started the climb but i guess we were late. As half way through sunlight started to appear on peaks and i was planning to catch the same scene from top of Rush Pari. So, didn't have choice but to stop and cover the sunrise.
Waited for clouds to give me shooting windows for different peaks and one by one i covered almost all the visible big mountains around me. Rakaposhi was the last to let me see the top for a brief moment and then again it went into cloud cover.
I took some high angle shots of Rush Lake with Ultar massif and then we came down after 1 hour.
The whole ground surface was frozen along with my tent cover. Breakfast was prepared while i had a semi circle around the lake again.
We packed the stuff after breakfast and headed for Phai Pheri at 10: 15 a.m.
The plan was to go down to Phai Pheri and cross the glaciers to camp at Miar on other side of the valley.
It was very steep descend and really tested the ankle, knee, hip joints. The problem is that there is no fixed route on this descend and u need to make your own route on high angle mountain slope.
Second problem is that this goes on for 2.5 hrs ....
The last half hr is bit better but by then u r already exhausted. We took some much needed rest at Phai Pheri and met a shepherd who just came back from middle of glacier. He told that the white ice is dangerous as day is very hot and sunshine is too harsh so white glacier surface is getting thin and may break.
He advised to cross next morning but i had to get back to Jaglot next day. So, we decided to come back from old route.
This time we camped at Usaimal which is the originating point of water stream which passes through lower campsites of Baricho Kor and Barpu Giram. We reached Usaimal at 2: 45 p.m.
I was very tired due to descend otherwise one can easily make it to Hopar village in 3.5 hrs so called it a day.
There are couple of shelter homes near my camp which was the only residential place i saw on this whole trek. Though there is a small village near Hamdar on other side of glaciers.
I woke up before sunset and captured some shots and also climbed up the ridge to watch the glacier. Then after dinner, i had a long session of night photography
Saw the Milkyway moving across the sky and then being lit by moonrays. Mountain top getting a white light bath
Finally went to sleep at 11 p.m.
Night stay in camp at Usaimal campsite on Rush Lake trek
