Holden's have less re sale as compared to even Hondas or toyotas, even though holden being a solely local manufacturing.
Question is, why as soon as possible? Because the repair at dealerships was too expensive and irreparable at domestic mechanic's?
May be a back packer from Europe would buy it in charm of a big car or a recent immigrant family

As soon as possible due to the fact that if he did not do a rego, the municipality will fine it or pick it up....

Try selling it in areas like auburn. Muslim communities are fond of either Camry's like yours or replicas of Chrysler like this one (boot side)

in Middle East its re-badged as Chevrolet Lumina, even here the sales is not as much, very difficult to find neat and clean car with less mileage, I found too many and all are like if body is clean than its high mileage, if mileage is less than body is not clean. and the main thing is about the maintenance, maintenance is high, each and every thing is computerized, means to say that connected with ECU. Regarding maintenance of Chevrolet once my colleague's suv Tahoe went for service and there one of mechanic haven't attached the battery terminals correctly that resulted in complete busted ecu wiring, which alone costs 5000 riyals plus and other is just air pressure sensor is about 400 riyals plus... No doubt car is very quiet comfortable but main problem is maintenance cost is very high...

Here even those people purchase this car who need big car and feeling of luxury in case of used one. most of the people tried to purchase new, but now its replace by Taurus... now most of the people like Taurus more than Lumina...

This is not Lumina, its called Caprice. Used mostly as Hire Cars in UAE btw.... since these are local cars, maintenance might not be an issue here in terms of cost..... I've gone through wreckers for parts of other cars and it seems there is not much difference in prices... the only question will be how frequently it will need maintenance ...

Though never owned a Holden but the word of mouth is that once brought in good knick, they last long n good with just regular maintenance

This is not Lumina, its called Caprice. Used mostly as Hire Cars in UAE btw.... since these are local cars, maintenance might not be an issue here in terms of cost..... I've gone through wreckers for parts of other cars and it seems there is not much difference in prices... the only question will be how frequently it will need maintenance ...

But here in Saudia its came in both as Caprice full version and lumina standard version with just some cosmetic changes i.e. some what lights are different, grill different shape and interior... As you are in car industry... and you also know that if American cars are maintained fully and driven carefully they live for long, the maintenance cost will be less..means to say sambhal kar chalao and properly maintained rakhyn to bohat less kaam nikalti hyn...

By the way this is the shape in Caprice / Lumina I loved the most... Planning to replace my Corolla with it....

Before I like caprice old model. once I traveled in this model, this is very spacious, love this. also thinking to change with this after finish installment of my car.

Brother its LPG (atleast that what the badge on the rego plate shows) so BE VERY VERY careful when buying second hand LPG cars....not many people do pink slips on LPG cars and it costs a lot everyime you have to get the car regoed.....also seems like its been used as a TAXI....silver service.....resale of taxis are next to nothing....you wont be able to sell it easily as it is an EX-Taxi.....also it looks like a V6 version....have heard that these engines are not very fond of LPG's and give a lot of problems when driven on LPG....seems that is one of the reason the owners want to let it go.....I owned one back in 2010 in Sydney....bought it as an ex-fleet sale vehicle from pickles auction for AUD22000....it had 40K kms on it......sold it quite easily as it was only petrol driven...it was one of those maroonish color

so my suggestion....stay away from second hand LPG cars and especially EX-Taxis.....you will not regret it......are the sellers MIDDLE EASTERN....if they are, brother stay as far away from the car as possible.....have experienced it once while I bought a 2000 Accord from these middle eastern....did not know much about repairable write-offs and the car was one of them.....learnt my lesson....stay away from middle eastern people no matter how cheap the car is....PERIOD

It was not used in taxi but the main concern is whether it will hold itself. One thing I don't understand is that people say CNG makes a crap out of an engine but no one complains about buying one. Similarly, LPG is wetter then CNG and yet you say its worthless. As far as I came to know here, LPG car has more value due to its alternative fuel option.

Having said that, I'm open to debate as to what else can go wrong.

Ok, here is the update. The guy had it since a year and confessed to being used as taxi and instead of having 173K, its actually 371k....

hold on.... offered him ridiculous money, haggled and got it for peanuts... now how much is that peanuts.. that's anybody's guess...

$485 would've been a good guess

The engine was misfiring and missing badly, at first I thought it was due to the most common issue with the LY7 engine i.e., timing chain stretch but since it wouldn't start missing until the engine gets warm (10~15 minutes after initial startup), so had to lookout for the spark plugs and this is what I found....

Replaced it with these and now it drives like a charm....

I have always experienced that GM ignition systems are really good design and its best to stick to the genuine AC Delco products - in this case spark plugs, gap to 1.2 mm and install them.

My plan was to drive since I was gonna join my job 1st of sept but suddenly got orders to reach ASAP. Had no choice but to fly.

Which car was I going to drive to Perth? It was one of these two company cars I had to choose from. I preferred the Caprice though
