Civic was made to competete corolla not corolla was made.and they both are always direct competeters and target different audiences but classes are same and they both are comparable as they are c segment cars.they both also have different driiving experiences.so chill and relax and see new civic having 23lakhmin

You have mixed things up; GLI AUTO doesnt have Alloys, Cruise Control, Air Bag, Keyless, ECO Zone or Retractable Mirrors. Its the same old GLI with 1.6L and Auto Gearbox. Its got no comparison with Civic!

+1.now gli auto is comparable to civic.even take a base altis and compare with civic vti and see the features standard on altis .alloys cruise control airbag keyless eco zone leather seats 6speedmt retractable mirrors and many other just dont wanna start that.even old vvti 1.8 gives around 2km/l better average compared to prosmatic as confirmed by mani and rizwan bhai

If Indus launches GLI-PLUS (or something) with 15.89 price tag featuring this new 1.6L Dual VVTI engine; It would be best product in the market!

Its not high, Considering Toyota is charging 90k for the gear box, less 90,000 from 16,79,000 you come to 15,89,000 which is 60k more then the Gli 1.3 manuals price. they are charging 60k for a upgraded engine so its reasonable i gues.

• In my opinion; Civic by design doesnt need Side Skirts
• Civic VTi shares everything with its bigger sister Civic Oriel. Its just the "key" is missing from Civic VTi; and one can get the Oriel like Key (transmittor) and get it programmed under 7k
• In my opinon; Civic interior is designed differently and it doesnt need wooden panels. There are "silver look panels" and "carbon fiber look panels" options available in countries like Australia and that too are not door panels
• The price difference between VTi M/T and Altis M/T is just (17.25 - 17.19) 6k and difference between VTi P/T and Altis A/T is (18.50 - 18.09) 41k. The price difference between Oriel M/T and Altis SR M/T is (19.10 - 18.09) 1.01lacs and Oriel P/T and Altis SR A/T is (19.90 - 18.99) 91k. Which 1700k you are talking about?. To me (as individual and as personal ride) VTi M/T is much better option that Altis M/T; for just 6k extra you are getting "exclusive" shape, immobilizer and 200cc more displacement. You are loosing primarily just driver side air-bag, retractable mirrors (10k), keyless entry (7k) and multi-info METER (fuel consumption, which door is opened etc). Air bag and multi-info METER are really nice features that Altis M/T has!

wht about no alloy rims, no airbag , no fog lamps, no side skirts , no key less entry , no wooden interior...A car which cost almost 1700k but still dont have these things..too me price of gli 1.6 is high..altis mt is better to buy...

None of these features even GLI-AT has!

Civic VTi price increased from 16.65 to 16.85 (when I booked mine) and this 30k price increase was due to 1.5% FED increase on March 15th. The increase from 16.85 to 17.25 (not 17.35) is really annoying; but then they say our currency is devaluing

1)Yeah Toyota Corolla price went up by around 67,000 ( from 1462 to 1529) out of which 20k was govt taxes. that makes it 47,000 With a facelift.

2) Civic Vti manual costed 1665000 which is now 1735000 a price change of Rs. 75000 what changes ? :S not even a single bulb.

All said; I think my immediate opinion still stands relevant

• To me Altis SR (both M/T and A/T) are flop; their prices are too high and one should get Civic Oriel instead; Civic Oriel has even higher price; but you will get "exclusive" shape, dual air bags, in-dash CD Changer and better interior. You will only miss ECO METER. Its not that big deal; if it is for you; you can always get ScanGuage like tools (10k - 20k)
• Altis A/T is also flop; no fun without tiptronic; get M/T instead for even better fuel consumption
• GLI A/T apparently looks better; but Altis M/T has loads of feature for slightly higher price and you will only loose A/T geatbox but get driver side air bag and loads of other features (which to me is much better deal)

I am not a Civic fanboy or Altis fanboy. I got Civic for myself plainly for one and only one reason. My dad is Toyota fanboy and he might never buy Civic and I wanted a change in our car porch (H). We booked Altis M/T yesterday ourselves. Just wanted to set the facts straight. This thread is about Altis and I think we should keep focused and avoid dragging Civic in every second post

Duh, Status. Get a life.

1) The Gli has been in production ever since Corolla is manufactured in Pakistan.

2) City was brought in to omit Civic Lxi/Sxi and compete with Margalla Baleno Segment.

3) Dash board quality, teil leine sab, go and check ground realities. Corolla is i guess the only car with a softer uper dash board. All other cars have cheap hard plastic on them. Civics dash board may look like a planes cockpit. but the built quality is pathetic now. My 96 Civic had better interior quality then what my 07 Vti does.

4) Hondas build quality, come to ground realities again, Tell me one Honda owner who didnt face locks, steering key, driver window issues, :S

Yes there might be., But the Gli at 1.6 is head to head comparable to the Vti auto tranny. yes the 200cc Difference prevails.

Aur City being rollas competitor, Never was never will. Even if a black bumperd xli is introduced cheaper then City.

Honda proved that it self,. On citys launch it was prices higher then Xli, then they backed off tameez ke sath.

Suspention wise,

id say Civic has better traction and the driver has better control on the car.

1) Increasing Price just because of a facelift is never a justification
since Price of the car in international market remains the same from one Generation the next some cosmetic changes like lights do not even begin to justify the price increase

2) Price is increasing of all cars only because of devalued Rs
that said Gli is still relatively Expensive compare to base Civic
think about all the features 1.6L Altis has with only 1.3 Lakh Rs higher price

If ur already spending so much on a Corolla why not just buy Altis?

3) imo Corolla has not been a C Segment Car in Pakistan particularly because of gimmicks like 1.3L Engines and "XLI"
keeping in mind XLI was the dominant variant of 2002-2007 model

the point im making is iDSI City was head to head with GLI/XLI
but currently the New City is not even comparable to 1.6L GLI which is how its supposed to be

Vti at and Gli At are more or less having similar features. Both are sisters to the higer end trims.

Both lack alloys, and some fancy stuff. Both can have the keyless entry as they both share the ECU of the higher end models.

Yes Civic does lead in the imobilizer and 200cc and exclusive shape. I wont argue to that as that is the fact infact. But the price difference btwn Gli At and Vti at is considerable for the extra stuff ur getting in Vti At. Over here the Civic has better features for rs.171000 more then Gli At.

Then comes Altis At

Over here Altis AT has some better features over the Vti At. Corolla being priced at 1809000 and Civic AT at 1850. Corolla is better here but still lacks imobilizer and the 200cc but u get alloys, multi info and a airbag, i guess its more or less equilant to Civic being 200cc bigger and having a immobilizer?.

Oriel and SR variant are then comparable. where Altis SR AT is 1899000 and Civiic Oriel PT is 1990000

3) I meant our XLI being a bare bone car
i mean a 1.3L Belta is the ideal car from Toyota in this price range and it would be loaded with features

most ppl in Pakistan r content with featureless cars retailing for such high price
while others would want a loaded car even if its a subcompact

also the "Size" difference and interior capacity between iDSI and Old Xli/Gli was negligible
thats what i meant by Corolla not being a proper C Segment car in Pakistan because iDSI was a very large Subcompact comparatively
and Old Corolla having cramped Leg Space on back seat
