I think instead of all the electronic gadgetry that comes with the benz that jacks the price up they should just provide a set of CHAINS for the wheels with the first aid kit they have. It would save a lot more embrassing moments like this and plus we would call it STOCK then

How much deep S-Coupe was in snow? What was the power plant in ML? (could be a V6) was it enough to pull out a TWO TON + car? There are bunch of other points needed to be consider.

i think i should have rephrased my previous thread,.. and written "stock" a few hundred more times. i've lived and driven in snow for half my life,... i know that NO stock SUV could have rescued that CL in those conditions and in that sutuation.

Dude, Mercedes has plenty of experience and know how on 4wd systems You got UNImog built buy them even though a east European design bought and you have the G Wagon.

That car could have easily come out with just a little tow pull properly done with any stock SUV with a bit of 4WD system.

In storm's defense, that S-Class didnt even have a 4WD system

a landcruiser would have yanked the whole darn chassis from beneath that CL - much less the car itself from the ditch - in no time...

btw they could have mounted snow-chains on that ML too

It's not mandatory. Even VW don't recommends chain on all 4 wheels on it's 4motion cars.

and we are living these road conditions since last 2 days:( All the tow truck driving around have chains on them and all of them are Chevy's;) If that ML is RWD then it is worthless in icy conditions.
