2013-14 Fortuner vs 2006-07 Prado, which to buy?

I went through the same decision making process last year with a similar budget. The main usage of the SUV was for the driver to mostly take kids to school and otherwise duty at home. I decided to go for a used Fortuner certified by Toyota (Sure). So far it’s given me good utility and it doesn’t have high maintenance or given me any issues. The quality of build is not as high as the Prado but I fear a 2004/5 model Prado is going to be massively beaten up and might give you surprise maintenance issues. Most SUVs also seem to have their meters reversed. We’ve used Fortuner multiple times for road trips to Nathia etc and it’s been great. The only issue I can mention is slight rattling door sounds that I had to get greased which since then is fine but might be something that needs to be addressed regularly.

Ive had detailed discussions with a few friends and family who are using different SUVs and majority of them are of the view that Prado in my budget will be old and can give unexpected troubles no matter how good the condition. They want me to go for new shape 2010+ models which currently are out of my budget.

Ive decided to go for fortuner.
Will try to extend budget and go for a 2017 (new shape). If not will get a 2016 TRD. I love that variant.

What about a new fortuner vs a used prado. If the budget is 10-11 million, what would you recommend?
I am inclined towards a prado but need to assess what model can i get in this budget.
