Excellent coverage. Enjoying all your posts. But like I said before, its so easy to recognize an American make from the others. As soon as I see a European or Japanese or Korean make car, even if I don't see the car badge, I know instantly its not American. American designs are so distinct. But they should pull up their socks as they are rapidly losing the market share in USA and if I am not mistaken their share is below 50% in the previous year.

well you may be right but the numbers doesn't reflect that. GMC and Ford are selling more over seas also re badged versions as well under overseas Joint ventures. Ford Focus was the 2nd best seller all over world. Ford sold more Focus outside than in US. Below are numbers from 2013 for US/Canada only. The corporation numbers below show all their divisions, like for Toyota includes Lexus, VW includes Audi as well as Bentley. Honda Includes Acura and same goes for GMC.

As I thought so, the share of others is slightly more than the big 3 combined. I am not including subsidiaries of the big 3. The Ford Focus sold outside USA is so much cooler than the model sold in USA. Maybe Americans don't like compact sport hatches, rather they prefer dorky sedans with chrome all over. Oh well, their choice but perhaps that's one of the reasons why people are buying non big 3. Just my 2 bits worth here.

Yes.. But US is Big 3 largest market too. Their world wide sales is strongly impacted by the US sales. That's the reason the prices are lowers comparing other where else in Europe mostly. Also the big 3 selling their bigger displacements here..

As far as hatchback. . The trend is changing. I am driving a hatchback for 8 years now.. And my friends love it when they jump from their trucks and SUV into my car..
