The overall quality, interior space and reliability is undoubtably better than than the city 1.5. City 1.5 has better features, handling, performance and fuel economy. Most people consider Altis advantages as better than the city's, plus Altis definitely feels like a more upscale and premium car compared to the city. I personally don't like the corolla x but would rather buy the 1.6at over the aspire due to the value for money. But I can understand why people might prefer the aspire. I personally went for the base 1.5 CVT due to my personal preference of the city's drive, engine and transmission over the corollas, plus to me the 1.5 CVT is the only variant of the city that even comes close to being value for money.
1.2 is a complete joke for the price that's why I'd take a used 1.6 over it even though I'm highly against used cars for their current highly inflated prices. I really dislike the Yaris and I still can't believe how many people I've recommended to buy the Yaris 1.3 over the city 1.2. Most people in the market are actually pretty misinformed regarding the price difference as well, they end up liking the city's looks and buying the 1.2 while thinking that Yaris is probably priced the same, then they suddenly prefer the Yaris after knowing the price difference. That's why even the Yaris booking times are up to 3.5 months now while 1.2 is on track for selling under invoice very soon if the prices don't increase.
If the prices do increase, then the new invoice 1.2s will have devastatingly low demand. A poster above said that 1.2 has December booking times available, if that's true then that means Yaris has now higher booking times. Plus the own values of 1.2 and Yaris are about the same now. For a brand new and much better looking car it's quite embarrassing.
