Hi. My in-laws are planning to buy a Sedan. Only uncle and auntie are at home to drive it. The car is driven a lot so definitely fuel economy is a factor. Plus, the car has to be automatic. Can some user please comment if City 1.2 Automatic a good option and how do you compare it with Yaris 1.3 automatic. Regards

Same is the case with me,
The car had a crooked steering at the time of delivery and was mentioned to Honda Point
Advise was to drive for a while and it should correct itself, if not mention at the 1st month checkup.

The steering as expected never auto corrected,
So mentioned at the 1st checkup, any correction was refused stating that it's an alignment issue and I need to pay to get any work done.
I ended up paying Rs3,000 plus GST for alignment.

I have driven 900km 1.2CVT and its average SO FAR (12-14 within city and around 15 on motorway Without AC ) on LIGHT foot and normal traffic.

how long does it take to get a car registered by a bank. the invoice was submitted to the bank on friday now they're saying tomorrow they will get the contract done then registration and takaful to thursday/friday mile gi.

Use inDriver as it is cheaper compared to Careem.

I checked both cars thoroughly before buying. This includes driving them both. Honda City beats Yaris in terms of following:

• City is much more spacious. Yaris gives feel of a hatchback w.r.t space when sitting inside.

• Comfort. You'll feel it in city.

• Retractable side mirrors. Yaris doesn't have those even in "top of the line" variant.

• Build quality. You can easily note that the doors of Honda City are heavier and material used is better. Check both cars at same time if possible to feel the difference.

• Acceleration. Multiple videos are available on youtube. Honda City 1.5 leaves Yaris top of the line 1.5 behind pretty quickly. City 1.2 takes a bit longer but still beats its counterpart Yaris 1.3.

• Yaris manual tells you to drive in a certain way uptil first 1000 kms or so (low rpm etc). Mostly the reason behind that is when metal parts in engine are placed close together, at high rpm they end up touching each other and there is some 'metal shaving'. Those small metal parts mix in oil and can be harmful for engine in long run. Not sure if that's the reason why toyota asks to drive in particular way. But Honda doesn't tell you anything like that because their engine components are designed with "precision". You just buy and drive normal.

• Shape. Although that's more of a personal thing, you'll find A LOT of people don't like shape of Yaris. Yet to meet someone who has problem with shape of new City/Grace.

• Better gear lever in City.

• Better drive of City. You can test drive both before buying.

There are some points where Yaris is better too:

• Safety features i.e, Traction Control & Hill assist. However, I know two Yaris owners who claim traction control did not work at some instances. Some say the L mode in city is helpful for hills. But I think the hill assist feature gives you more than Honda's L mode.

• Toyota is known for easier parts availability.

Why did you pay them? Alignment from outside shops would have costed you much lower.

Fuel average is a question asked regularly here.
My Aspire 1.5 CVT is giving an average of close to 13km/litre.
It's without AC or Eco mode, all city driving with light foot.

Two tanks filled up so far, both times did 450 km with a refill of 35 litres of fuel.

Honda has had lot of quality control issues (honda x blunders). Toyota has a clean track record and obviously maintainance/part costs are cheaper for a toyota which matters most to middle class people which is the target market

Thanks for the detailed reply. However, this first 1000 km driving carefully is valid for each and every car on the planet. It is called break in period. If Honda does not tell to the customers doesn't mean it should not be done. Even on motorbikes it has to be done

Reliability, better suspension/comfort, easy resale == Yaris.
Better looks (subjective) === City.

Fuel economy will be roughly similar.

Well... nothing wrong with City's suspension... btw
I had heard alot about its suspension being hard and tyres being unacceptable, however, as for aspire, I find this more a myth and less a reality.. the 6th gen has changed my perception of city.... its a well tweeked machine!

Yar that's what I believed in but do ask some foreign technical person belonging to this field. I asked an expert who works in Proton Malaysia, as I was once interested to buy from them. He told that this concept of break-in period or metal shaving is very old has become invalid with time world over after inplementaiton of precision designing. Since the source of info was very authentic and the guy was directly related to this field I believed him.

Have heard the opposite from many toyota car owners.

Another plus point of Yaris is that it's cheaper than City.

Totally Disagree with reliability factor. its a myth, i have used Honda city from 2008 to 2014 (250k KM) and now using 9th gen civic from 2014 (130k Km) no single issue of reliability and only changed consumables. However the civics suspension is a bit of stiff BUT good to handle on even 150km/hr (no idea about Yaris/corolla)

Also resale of honda is a myth, kindly get me one clean in even purchased invoice price

Hello everyone. Im planning to buy City 1.2 CVT for family use. Can someone who owns it tell me whats the pick up like as compared to Aspire 1.5 and Yaris 1.3 and fuel efficiency within the city and on motorway on normal foot? No dealership got 1.2 for test drive so im unable to make a decision between city 1.2 and yaris 1.3. Any suggestions or insights would be helpful. TIA!

either go for city 1.2 cvt or yaris 1.5

with yaris 1.5 you may get some features that may justify your purchase,
there is no reason at all to buy yaris 1.3...

1.2 has no power issues atall, even yaris 1.5 is compareable pickup wise

Yaris 1.3 attracts anyone in the market to purchase a Suzuki Cultus or Picanto.

Both Picanto and Cultus have long waiting times, Cultus is totally suspended if you can some how get booking it has waiting period for 4 months (120 working days)

if i am in the market to purchase a Cultus AGS i would skip it for Yaris MT Even. Cultus is selling at a whooping 3 lack + Premium (that too if you find one)
