Toyota here doesn't want to sell its products without fat margins. That approach has been working very well with Innova and higher segment vehicles like fortuner. Toyota experimented with Etios and Yaris but realised the buyers in lower segments are very price conscious

The reason the Yaris has failed is because it is mediocre at everything, it had no major talking point/USP. Engine, space, features, looks, handling were all average at best, no where did it beat it’s competitors other than it’s safety suite. Launch price didn’t help it either. Agressive competition in this category ( like city , verna, rapid, vento, creta , seltos,venue,sonet) added to its worse.

And yes Yaris here is cheaper than city

Sir, i said Yaris Ativ is based on VIOS which have same footprint and same technology of VIOS. Its just a different shape which was launched in 2017.

You can clearly read "a new sedan variant of the same XP150 appeared as Yaris Sedan" in your own shared screenshot.

As its the same xp150 platform, it is obviously 2013 tech repurposed as a new car. Plus yaris new gen xp210 has already been released with no plans of sedan coming in that gen because it has been mostly a failure.

Toyota seems to be rebranding mazdas now as yaris sedan in some markets and the xp150 is getting the axe in some markets. So yeah the current gen yaris here is definitely ancient tech as well. Compare that to the 6th gen city which is still in some markets being sold besides 7th gen, it is pretty obvious which car the world prefers.

Its a fact that current city is outdated now, we know nothing about 6th generation. I was in 2 minds when buying Yaris, but it turned out to be a great car... much better than my old mate corolla & family work horse city

you are saying yaris being axed as it is ancient and city 6th gen still being sold in some markets.

i gave you a huge market eg where cars are utility rather than luxury and the numbers from there.

Unfortunately the World does not give a second look to these sub-compact econoboxes. So please correct your definition of the world and ancient and Axed.

Toyota does have the edge of being a fleet provider, hence transport segment looks at it favorably thus giving it the edge.

For the record the 6th Gen is available new in Bahrain @ 3,999BD (c.a. 1.6million) Pearl White. The 7th gen is 5,800 BD, and yaris for 6000BD.

The world (people in the ME) prefer a more expensive Yaris over 7th Gen City.

You seriously need to work on your reading comprehension. Try to calm down a bit and read again thoroughly. Yaris is getting axed due to low sales, not due to being ancient. Axing an ancient car that sells without properly replacing it makes no sense at all.

So yaris is selling well in one market. Amazing. Fact of the matter is arabs have a huge affinity for toyotas and city has been a bigger success in more markets than just ME. City is the bread and butter of honda, while it seems like toyota couldn't care less for yaris sedan. There are no news or even rumors of what is to become of the yaris sedan now that the yaris' new platform has arrived. Toyota is constantly jumping around giving the sedan version weird new names, rebranding mazdas, discontinuing and rereleasing and whatever. Pretty obvious that toyota cannot perfect the formula for a smaller sedan like they did with the corolla. Sedans made as hatchbacks first, sedans second never end up too well.

Europe is either green electric or more of a hatchback buyer where sedans are not a common sight. The Yaris sold here is a different platform so cannot be quoted

Please Honda is much much larger than that insignificant car City. Do not Insult the company, they are in Aeroplanes to F1 to NSX to Bikes, Generators, Lawnmowers. Respect where Due, dont make a joke of a company and Honda is not ATLAS HONDA.

Toyota has a manufacturing process that calls for continual improvement. They also say if it is not broken then dont try and fix it.

Toyota Japan does not give highest priority to this sector and it is exclusively looked after the Indonesia Unit. They make the car that can be affordable, reliable and serve the purpose for the people in this region. See Yaris/Vios is not sold in Japan, Grace is. For them this sector is doing sufficient business and the energy they will invest here for them is better invested in markets where they can earn more premium (Europe and US).

Case in point there will be a Suzuki Corolla and Toyota Ciaz in India. This market is volume filler and not prime target market.

Again If comprehension is to go by then your above one liner means that Honda is living of the Leftover of other manufacturing giants. CITY the Bread and Butter of Honda.

Yaris new platform you harp about is not new, it is replacing the Vitz Marque and Yaris Sedan the 150 platform will continue to be borrowed from the VIOS when ever it gets replaced. Dont worry about that.

Don't get personal or attached to one brand. Be open and evaluate what is to offer. The best part is City 6th gen New for Pakistan is still not revealed and people ahve gotten so attached to it.

I see some philosophers preaching that Yaris is axed in India, brothers go through the blogs and see the fate of 7th generation city... those who bought it, regret buying it, has too many issues.

As for Yaris, Toyota has no serious intentions in India in the sedan segment, they already discounted Corolla, they did not market Yaris well, now Baleno is to be rebadged Corolla... Toyota wants an image of a premium brand and is concentrating in India on fortuner and above.... so its a different market, as i said desire and swift swept market share in India, here its a total flop... wagon r flopped in Pakistan initially, got a boom with Careem / Uber emerging, again sales slowed down after Alto launch and subsequent price increases, while in India its a star selling product

As i said earlier, if City gets a price below or equal to Yaris in the base segment, its going to win, if it does not, things won't change... Yaris will keep in sweeping sales because Toyota enjoys much better repute in Rural Pakistan and KP, Hondas are for Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi...

Just because honda has other flagship products, does not mean city is one of their highest selling cars. While toyota cannot even be consistent with the brand name of the sedan version of yaris, so no it is no where near the household name the city has become. You seem to be getting weirdly pissed about city being important to honda and where the hell did you come up with f1, nsx and generators in this discussion.

Yaris sedan not getting the new platform like the hatchback is making it quite obvious toyota doesn't care much about this car and it is pretty evident once you sit inside it. While on the other hand honda literally combined the manufacturing line of 11th gen civic and 7th gen city. You know toyota messed up with the yaris when they literally have to rebrand a suzuki now in place of the yaris.

I got absolutely no attachments to honda. I was the one crapping on the 1.2 above while some idiots with no knowledge of car engines were getting pissed off over it.

I am not supporting city 6th generation and I am not a honda,toyota and suzuki agent. And this is my prediction when the city launched the yaris market value and its sells decreases. You may be correct. City (even 6th gen) has the potential to take away a good chunk of Yaris market share. But Yaris has already established its market.

Actually, product launch timing is very important. Atlas dragged last model of City for 12 years. Had they launched 6th gen a couple of years ago, Yaris might or might not been an instant hit.

Even now Atlas is using cheap tactics of doing pre bookings while not disclosing price and features. In my opinion they don't consider Yaris to be a real competition because they strongly believe in their LOYAL customers.
