Which Engine Oil Is Best For Honda City 1.5 cvt?

Current Reading is 14800. first 2 engine oil changes from honda.

any suggestions

It's been 2 months and 27 days since delivery of my 1.2cvt. I have only driven 1200 km. Do I have to get the oil change as soon as my 3 months are completed or can I wait?
If I don't get the oil changed, will it void my warranty?

Keep using Honda 0w-20 API SP oil. It's good quality oil in good price when compared to other 0w-20 oils in the market.
The oil change interval for this oil is 6 months because it's fully synthetic. Honda replaces the same oil in civic after 6 months.

But they are looting the customers by forcing customers on 3 months oil change for City and BRV using the owner's manual as basis. The reason City's manual state 3 months oil change is the engine oil technology at the time of 6th gen City was old. The latest API spec at that time was SM. If you check the owner's manual of 7th gen City, you will find a recommendation for API SN, and it states to change the oil after every 6 months.

Here's the sequence of API spec from old to new
SJ, SL, SM, SN, SN Plus, SP (latest)

With each new API and ILSAC specs, the engine oil strength with new additives and change interval improves.

I am using liquimolly 0w20. Its for 10k at least. And costs 8k. With filter included its around 11k pkr for every 10k km. Cheaper than honda 5k oil change Which costs 14k over 10k km

Previously, I was discussing time based interval change for low mileage vehicles. All fully synthetic oils can last up to 10,000 km or 6 months, which ever comes first. With that in mind, Honda oil is much cheaper. But it's better not to exceed synthetic oils more than 8000 km to be on the safe side.

As far as oil filter is concerned, I only trust OEM filters due to the reason explained in the video.

Liquimolly is 10k miles. So 16k km. Using it for 10k km is fine

sir, the tractor-like sound that youre referring to, was it coming from the outside while standing near the hood of the vehicle or could u hear the same sound from the inside as well? since personally for me this is quite a matter of concern because i noticed a similar noise coming from my vehicle as well while standing near to its hood.

Get it done by 3 months of 5000km whichever comes first. I disregarded it because I could only get 4500km in 6 months but they have done 10k service for me totally neglecting 5k service. So dont fight on this.

The Dealerships keep insisting to change after 3 months as it is written on warranty book and they keep saying that it will cause your warranty null and void....
so what is solution to this??

I don't think there's any solution for this. Unfortunately you have to change at 3 months interval if you want to keep the warranty.
But the reality is replacing fully synthetic oil at 3 months is waste of money and we are polluting the environment.
I work on my own cars, I stopped taking my vehicles to dealership couple years back. Even though I buy OEM parts only from dealership. I know this voids the warranty but I have seen how mechanics deal with customer vehicles so i don't allow anyone to touch my cars.

Exactly same is my thinking and I totally agree with you on this. I am also not happy how dealership mechanics work, every time they touch your car, you have to do a rework on next day. I visited dealership yesterday for 3rd free inspection and they insisted to replace engine oil otherwise warranty will void. During 3rd inspection they opened all wheels and started to do brake service even it was just 4500km driven in 6 months and did not required any break service but as per documents they closed their action.
after brake service I am not happy with the Hand brake setting, they changed the factory setting which made it harder and uncomfortable for me.
Regarding Oil change and Periodic maintenance now I am also inclined to say goodbye to dealership, although it will void warranty but historically as per my past experience this warranty thing is useless, when you actually face a problem they always have an argument to Back fire your concern. Mera nahi khayal kay dealerships warranty claims mein ziada helpful hotay hain, wo hamesha customer per blame ker dete hain aur warranty claim mein support nahi kertay.

recently had an oil change from the dealership. with oil, oil filter, air filter and brake servicing. cost me around 17k which is absurd. specifically the air filter which cost 4500. yes oem parts are expensive but an air filter is that really this expensive? anywhere else i can get genuine honda parts for cheaper?

as for the oil they are using is it fully synthetic or semi synthetic. arent fully synthetic oils expensive. the oil costs around 4-5k i believe

Yes, OEM air filters are expensive for the majority of the vehicles. I own Alto 660cc and its air filter costs around, 3500 from dealership. I also wanted to switch to after market filters, but unfortunately they don't have the fine filtering that OEM filters provide. Check this video to understand what I am talking about

The major reason for parts being expensive is they are imported. City's air filter comes from Thailand and Alto's air filter is from the Philippines. Price could be significantly reduced if they are localized.

Honda's 0W-20 oil is fully synthetic, for sure because it's the requirement for Civic 11th gen, and it's the only grade in its owner's manual. But 5W-30 could be semi synthetic.
The prices of engine oil from dealership is less because of idemitsu's factory in Pakistan. We can get quality parts for less price only if they are localized.

Parts Central is the only one I read the most on this forums. There are individual shops as well. Maybe @jklodhi can help for twin cities and @khuram2703 can help for Lahore.

You can check Honda shop in Saddar . The prices are 30% lower than 3S . Lately, prices bave increased due to import issuea
