20w50 in Honda Fit Hybrid

I am using TMO 20w50 in my corolla since day 1 because the manual says so.
I don't know why ppl r so much against this. Car has clocked 43k kms and ma sha Allah still runs like new.

An 80's Khyber runs on 10w 40. Unless you always redline your engine and run them hard, most modern cars dont need more than 5w-20/0w-20 or 5w-30/0w30.
However, if its a Porsche Turbo or an M5 or something similar, you are best off with 10w-60 (H)

I once bought a kixx oil 20w50 it had some obsolete rating SJ or SG I dont remember. These oils are not suitable for new cars.

previously used 20w-50 in 1nz-fe n what i felt alway was that the pick of car was less in 1st 1500 kms of the run n after that it used to get improved !! now using 5w-30 in 1zr-fe n i'm having 0 issues !

having 3 choices doesn't mean you should select the worst out of em.... your car, ur money man... you should warm the car good 15 minutes before taking it on a drive for prolonged engine life with that oil, the damage done to the engine from a cold start to optimal running temp is much less on a less viscous oil......

yeah, from what I have concluded is that 5w30 fully-syn is good for almost all efi 4 cyl econo boxes. and if the engine is in good shape and you use good quality oil and air filters, you can even go beyond 10,000 km on a single oil change

using 20w50 etc on these modern engines is ziyadti, these engines have very tight tolerances and require thinner oils that can form a strong film for maximum protection.
In sub-zero temperatures, thick oil wouldn't circulate properly until the engine is warm enough and will cause unnecessary extra wear and tear, but I guess it's okay in hot summers when the engine doesn't start at a very low temp and the oil is still liquid, not gel.

yes i recommend 5w30 for hybrid or small econo engine running heavier or thicker oil like 10w40 or 5w50 will harm ur fuel consumption......btw fully synthetic in US can run upto 10-15,000miles but here in Pakistan our environment is dusty so we have to be careful....max i took upto 8000km even imported Dealer like Audi/Merc recommend to change oil before 10,000km

What if car is on cng?
Cng runs on high temperature as compared to petrol so 20w50 is good for modern cnged engine, no?

Not sure about that, never used cng on any of my cars, but if your cooling system is doing it's job, the engine's temperature should stay within a certain range regardless of outside temperature and type of fuel used.

Plus i don't think anyone has installed cng in fit hybrid yet. Lekin pata koi nai

Recommended is only 0w20. as the car features eco idle stop feature so engine has to shut down and start many times and immediately run again.so thinner oil will circulate whole engine better instead of thiker oil.thats why oil in hybrids is thinner.

and dont worry if reviously thicker oil was being used.if quantity was not exceeded over factory recommendation you can change it.in fact people abroad use different oil for winter,summer or snow weathers.just make sure not to pour excessive oil.that is the main reason for seals leak.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am now using Total 5w30 in my Fit. Couldn't find any 0w20 oil from a brand that I could recognize. They had Zic 0w30 but recently I have heard mixed reviews about Zic's quality control.

I am using 0w20 for PTT Performa.Its Philipines based company.i heard many positive reviews about it so i tried it and am very satisfied with it.You know problem with famous brands is they are being repacked here in pakistan. but with not so famous but quality ones are still imported as it is.i checked it with bar code scanner in my mobile and bang,i was able to trace it to the manufacterer site.so i was sure it was the same pack whitch i bought, not some locally prepared and recyled dinosaur oil

You'd be better with any 5W20-5W30 API SM or higher
