Welcome to Day 6
No morning shots today as we had been suffering enough since last day and during night as well and i was dead tired so woke up around 6 a.m. and we had just enough time to get ready for the stage 2 of the trek.
Lots of psychological convincing had been going on since last night as Amjad brothers had decided to return back from here due to what we had faced yesterday. It took some time and persuasion but finally they agreed to continue ahead. Besides, i wasn't comfortable with the idea to send them back alone.
Such things do happen very often in tough situations like this. And the key is to pass on the message slowly and let it take its own time
Finally things do come in good
We enjoyed tasty parathas and butter from our hosts at Jhuggiyan village and we had jam, Mayonnaise and Chocolate spread with us. So, breakfast was great
Afterwards, a round of tea and then geared up for Ratti Gali Lake.
We started the trek at 7:30 a.m. We kept walking on left side of Dowarian nallah till we reached a huge glacier on which we crossed towards other side. Now the trek continued on same side till the lake.
We reached Domail around 9 a.m. Till this point, the team had been moving together but after Domail, myself and Hafiz sahib changed the gears and kept one porter with us. While the remaining group kept moving on their own pace with other 3 porters. Chacha porter stayed back to take care of the luggage and try to dry the tents and sleeping bags
The main reason was to use maximum time for photography while other members reached the lake. My leg muscles were doing great and i was feeling my usual self
The ointment and crepe bandages did the job well.
It took us 1 hour 45 min to reach mini Ratti Gali Lake and another 40 min to reach the main Ratti Gali Lake.
Total trek time from Jhuggiyan to Ratti Gali Lake was 3 hr 45 min and distance covered was 7 km.
We spent 2 hours at the lake. The rest of the team took 1 hr 15 min extra so we spent around last 30 min together on the lake.
The return leg was started around 1:30 p.m. and my target was to reach 1st shelter today so that we can camp under cover to avoid any further rain.
But after going down an hour or so, Azeem started to feel pain in his knee and it got difficult for him to keep the pace. So, we slowed down and it took us almost same time to reach back Jhuggiyan i.e. 4 hours.
Considering the situation, we decided to stay at Jhuggiyan though we still had 3 hours of daylight but Azeem wasn't feeling well.
The dinner was great and chapatis came from village
Alhamdulillah, the night passed without rain though it was cloudy as usual.
