Im with sherazshahid! 20Vst is a overrated engine. compare it with a D16 not a B16. B16 is way more powerful and convenient for daily driving.
There arent many options left with a 20v when it comes to aftermarket performance parts. how many turbo 20v are there? are they making any huge marks?? whereas B16 is a pretty pop machine to FI.
BUT!!! a drag would settle down things . personally i like 20v but not as much as B16.
i've driven quite some 20v's in ae101 and some swapped cars. same is with B16.
BTW 20v needs high octane gas to produce power as per the rating and this never happens. 11CR is way too high.
I drive a B16 and i know what it is capable of. 20V IS A OVERRATED engine.

i think this is a pretty good debate technically this is not a fight between HONDA or TOYOTA but its a fact fight.

Ofcourse!! the headflow is diff. B16 PR3 head is way better if compared to 20v ST head (remember im here talking about the gen1 B16 PR3)

It has to do with the intake and exhaust ports being closer to the combustion chamber. The ports are actually very low and closer to the engine block than other heads. whcih apparently maximizes the affect of the valve overlap.

20 valve headis a little different. It's intake ports sit very high and far from the combustion chamber. This would be good for low end response but topend power is lost. lots of headwork is required to allow 20v to rev high. while B16 can rev 9k without any changes easily stock is 8.2k

and above all valve diff B16 has relatively larger valves. Cam setup is also diff. If I remember correctly b16 uses 265 duration and 10.5mm lift. Most aftermarket 4ag cams don't have lift even close to that.
but thumbsup when it comes to reliability i love toyota. rock solid and reliable

Well this is a old debate and a never ending one, since I like both the engines, I would say they have their advantages and disadvantages. The only difference would the person driving and who would be a better driver.

So you will see, B16 loose some and win some and the same with 20V win some loose some. The way you drive matters best.

yaar check history,,to find out what was happening in late 80's and early 90's. now its not my fault yr were running around in diapers when we guys were driving these cars. if b16b you wanna compare with 20v, then look closely at facts that 20v BT was introduced to kick b16b ass. now i dont know why the supercharger of your 4agze didnt work and why you plonked a turbo, because guys make it twin charged, super and turbo charged.
i ve been driving stock honda since 83, have driven many cars to date. and your problem is your never came across a good 20 valve engine,, probably a few piece of junks that is why you think that way.

i have smoked lots of b16 and d16's (i used to drag 2e with d16. (how's that !! you satisfied now?)
but these hondas fans are like vampires,, they keep coming back with more setups to race again, because they feel bad working so much on car and loose and i dont want to race another b16 just because you tuned it!. go race with guys who put 20 valves in car for race purpose.
bottom line is 20 valve is best engine in 1600 class. wether you choose bt or st or z series.

when i used to drive honda engines,one example is : i always to used to look upto bigger cars,, like celica and supra, and what happened in the end, i lost engine's ovehead cam.
so my problem was not the honda engine. it was the ego inside why i dont have a toyota. so later on when i owned toyota i was much satisfied driver:) and i am talking about my cars not my father's cars or money.

twin charging a 4agze is a heck of job and it could only be done if u could get uor hands on the hks supercharger disengagment clutch and the production of tat has been long stoped..

i think 20v is a very very good motor but not just as good as the b16 coz
