3KM/L Average on New Engine 2ZZFE in Corolla 05

Dear all,

I had 2ZZFe installed on my Corolla 2005 which was already converted from 2.0D to 1.5 (1NZFE) 8 years back.

Problem is the mechanic who installed all this, is not available in Lahore anymore and he sent the car for test drive and it seemed okay at that time. After that he hasn't been in Lahore, maybe he went maybe he did not.

Now the car has been sitting still for 4-5 months, before that when I used it daily, the engine was giving really bad average like 3-4KM/L literally!

I thought in the beginning maybe the engine will take time to come into normal but then it was too costly to run and I don't have any other mechanic to diagnose my car completely.

Therefore, what do you think the problem is and please suggest a mechanic that can give A-Z diagnosis on the car please.

That fuel average sounds extremely low for a 2ZZFE engine. Usually, these engines should give better mileage, especially if tuned properly. Possible causes might be incorrect ECU mapping after the swap or issues with the fuel injectors. Checking the air-fuel ratio with a proper scan tool could help pinpoint the problem.
