4 Friends, Honda City and Swat, Kalam Valley

Mahran can go if you handle the pain of long drive. Till Bahrain it is almost 12 hours drive with 2 hours rest here and there (Namaz and lunch / dinner or sight seen). If you travel non stop which is hardly the option, you can save 2 to 2.5 hours but saving 2 hours will cost you pain in shoulders and back so I recommend travel with leisure as it should be a leisure tour.

We had city 2011 model manual and we were 4 adults and one of them was double man (you know what I mean, a mota friend). City should be your choice but till Bahrain as I mentioned. After Bahrain, City can go but it will hard for suspension (I repeat City can go, but it will hit below at least 5 times). If you can bear the hits, take your City. Route is safe but no road at all.

How is road to sawat now a days? look and feel wise? Once I was interested in making a film inspired from Pakistani film 'Road to Sawat'. that is why i am asking.

1. Weather should be fine but plz do check forecast before leaving.
2. Beyond Kalam no hotels as everything has been destroyed after earthquake and flood.
3. Rates are economical as not much tourist and tourism. People are still fearing Talibans but it is safe now. Alhamdolillah
4. 2500 from Bahrain to Kalam pn 5th May. I don't know for now.
5. Rates and fares are throughout economical as less tourism. Locals take whatever they earn.

1. Weather is really pleasant.. not too warm but not too cold either.. from Bahrain to Kalam upward there is a difference of few degrees.. warm to cool
2. Plenty of good hotels ..esp in Kalam: Hotel Greens, Honeymoon hotel, new Honeymoon hotel .. Bahrain has hotel marina i think its good... nothing above kalaam
3. the Kalaam hotels mentioned above: 5000 to max 8000.. but there are cheaper hotels and options available
4. do not have the experience but according to forums.. it starts from 3000 (and upward) per day.. depends on car, driver, no of days needed and negotiation skills
5. ??? what do you mean.. locations? or jeep rate? location: mahudand lake, ushu valley, utror valley and lake, kalam forest.. jeep rate: point no 4

Very nice trip
We friends were also in Kalam last month but on 18-19 May. Gone through abbottabad-besham side & returned from mardan motorway
Everything is just like you describe
Rates at that time were 1000 for single & 2000 for big room in Kalam

We returned via besham side. We thought to go malam jabba but missed the road. At shangla top near check post we asked army personal about malam jabba. First he offered us cold drinks as he was also from Lahore. Then he told that we have missed the road from khawazakhela. So we decided not to go backwards rather came back to Islamabad from besham Abbottabad side.
