40,000 checkup and tunning of Honda City 2012 is benefitail or not from Honda cen

My Honda city 2012 next tuning from Honda center on mileage of 40,000.....

Is that Good to tune my car from Honda,they charge me approx 30,000..

Is there any advantages or disadvantages.

You can do it yourself. . Brake pads , Injectors cleaning, fuel filter if chocked, plugs and air filter, oil , oil filter, alignment ( see tire wear out). transmission oil should be fine. its too early, you see level is correct, power steering oil level, Boots, ( axle rubber covers), see under engine shield is secured proper, belts have no loose thread, wear out is even, tension is correct, do you have ac filter in yr car, if yes, clean if no, forget it. any other abnormal behavior you can ask.. if you feel like this was information worth some money, you can send check to me via pakwheels addressed Levin.:). thankyou

the problem is that to get the throttle body done from a pitshop man is a HUGE HUGE risk...i mean he can totally ruin it and i wud end up driving a sedan gulping fuel of an SUV

I got my Oriel 2010 serviced from Honda last week at 40k running. The total cost was Rs. 21k (excluding brake pads after inspection). All liquids changed, filters changed, tappet adjusted, tuning, ECU test/settings.
I recommend one should not take a car of any brand to open market for routine checkup/maintenance till 80k running. By than, the natural wear-n-tear would make your ride eligible for resale or open market service. Otherwise, you'll lose quality of work.

GO to honda 3s would not cost you that much the above poster also changed his fuel filter which alone cost around 7 thousand .

This is a rip off. Your 40k kms service cost should not be more than 6~7000 rupees if your driving routine is average.

You don't need to replace fuel filter at 40k unless you have been using Irani Petrol bought from road side vendors who normally sell to motorcycles in 1.5l PET bottles.
Oil filter should be changed according your engine oil change interval. Do change it at every oil change.
Air filter should be changed at every 20~30k kms if it is reasonably maintained. Never clean by pressurised air from inlet side. Always point pressurised air from outlet of the air filter to remove the dirt out of air filter not in.
Oil good quality synthetic ones are normally good for 7k~8k kms.
No need to adust tappets. Please refer to your cars owner manual. Even if it says checking the tappets at 40k, it is better to listen to the sound of engine at idling and if there is no abnormal tappet sound there is no need to adjust them. And if they need adjustment always do it when engine is cold i.e., parked overnight.
For gear oil also refer to owners manual.
Brake Pad thickness to be measured using a good quality thickness gauge. If it is within the service limit then no need to change. Otherwise if you have not been using your car for drag racing on busy city streets the break pads remain good for more than 100k kms or even more. Brake oil in normal service is good for 60k kms. but you can change it at 40k as advised normally in owners manuals. Durinng brake oil change extreme cleanliness is required.
Computer car diagnostic; No need if there is no check engine light on or if there is no obvious problem with the car engine or drive.
Do rotate your cars tires at every 10k and get them balanced if there is a puncture any time and it is repaired by removing tyre from the wheel.

thats great....i will have to spend even less cause i wont be changing the air filter as i got the genuine one at 15k

i got 1 yr check for my city (13K KM) i paid 8,661rs. (no oil filter and air filter change) and major cost was of wheel balancing and alignment. it included

Eng oil & washle change
Throttle clean up and then computer checkup
Dist battery water
Carbon cleaner (used 10% and kept rest of the bottle with me)
wheel balancing and alignment

My City has done 30k till date and I still have 10000 km before 40k inspection. Plan on just getting oil filter, oil and air filter changed.

My brother had his City's 40k inspection and parts replacement done from Honda in Islamabad and is totally dissatisfied. They cleaned throttle body and now the car has rough idle (it was fine before). Changed gear oil and now the gears are sticky (they were perfect before). Engine became noisy, so he changed engine oil again on his own with Shell and now the engine has quietened down. Plus they charged him Rs 32k for all this. His car's factory feel is gone.

Personally, I'm thinking of following the philosophy of 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it'.:S

Let me know if anyone finds a good pit shop to clean throttle body etc in Isb/Rwp. I usually go to Auto Club I.10, they are good but only slightly cheaper than Honda.

My 13' was company maintained until the last time I was to Honda Center, Peshawar Road. I was okay with that because I didn't mind paying extra money if my car was being taken proper care of, I was under the illusion that these guys were the best for my car, even though I was aware I was being charged more than double the amount i'd be charged by an outside mechanic. The last time I went to Honda to get the tuning etc done, I was charged about 12k total for tapid adjustment, throttle body wash and filters etc. Now like I said, I didn't mind that much. It was the first time I was getting the tuning done in front of me. I wasn't aware how the catalytic converter was serviced. The mechanic just took the converter out, and rubbed the inside of the socket with a wire-mesh type cleaner for barely 15-20 seconds and I was charged 1160 Rs for it. I was fine with paying extra for the services but not being ripped off, that's exactly what I told the management as I got the 1160 rs off my bill and swore never to go there again. My advice, ask someone for a trustworthy mechanic, get someone with extensive knowledge of your car and get the same stuff done for less than half of the price you'd pay at the dealership.

Haven't gone anywhere yet, need to find a good mechanic myself. Just need to change the oil in a few thousand kilometers as I got almost everything done from Honda Center.

Oil and Filters etc are no problem. Just buy originals from Honda and get them changed from any autoshop. We need to look for a good shop to do more advanced work such as throttle body and converter clean ups.
