Guys,
Few months back I got hold on a J40 which came with toyota L engine 2.2 liter diesel matted with surf 4x4 gear.
The idea was to make it a crawler 4x4 with low ratios and good power, so I totally overhauled the engine with genuine parts including, piston, sleeves, valves, new self starter, new generator, new diesel pump, new auto mizors, heat plugs, new clutch and finger plate etc. while the gear was in its stock pretty well condition, never opened or repaired with an electronic 4x4 engage system.
The rig was on road after few months of restoration job, but unfortunately after the road test it was decided to change the engine and gear for higher power so I had to buy a 3b with H55f transmission, which is just now inn today 
and the L with surf gear is out finally :).
The pathan to whom i got the new power house was willing to trade in both of taken out items but the price he offered me was so low that i decided to keep both items for someone who is looking for an economic package ready to install. or even if i would not find any interested person i can still keep the both items with me for any future requirement as i have an option to buy a cheap cj with out engine and gear and put the both things in it

Pls note that i have spent almost 30k on engine overhaul which i would definitely want to recover. As far as surf gear is concerned i dont know about its market price but the pathan agreed to trade in the gear in Rs. 28k, rather he was pretty much interested in gear actually. Both are in perfect running condition and does not require a single penny job. Engine is less than 50 KMs driven after overhaul
