Thanks for the wonderful thread. I am also planning to go but bit concerned about the road condition. You said earlier that road near jaglot bridge is still wodden and bumpy is it compulsory to cross or is there any other way for babusar top. I am planing to go to khunjrab with my family on city 15. Please advice if its OK for this car as the tunnel is opened.

Also the bad patches via babusar way are they OK if I drive slowly and carefully I mean would it hurt the car downstairs or its just bumps which can be Crossed slowly and steadily without hurting the car or suspension.

Thank you for your appreciation. The wooden bridge near Jalkhad can be crossed slowly without hurting your car. Secondly there are some bad patches near Babusar top which can also be crossed if you drive little carefully. There should not be any issue with City, i have seen lot of people driving cars like Prius so it wont cause any nuisance on City.
Another suggestion for you is to drive carefully from Chillas to Raikot as this part of KKH has sudden bumps which are not good for suspension.

Best of luck for your trip and hurry up, Babusar top closes down in September end i guess.

We are in naran now BTW we are following your schedule and way we left Lahore at 11 and reached naran at 9 but we didn't find ptdc good and very expensive so on the jheel road we found a good hotel of 3500 with 2 mattresses. We will leave tomorrow INSHALLAH via the same route and will stop at hunza. Do you know any good hotel in hunza which you can Reffer also as the attabad tunnel is now open can we leave for khunjrab from hunza and come back in one days. I mean how long the drive is from hunza till khunjrab. Also on khunjrab pass is it hard to breath I mean because of oxygen. What if the car AC stays on will there be any problem. I have bp issues so asking.

There are many hotels there, u can get a room easy now a days also cheep as season is going to off.

Ata Abad tunnel is open or not ??
It was completed and ready to open since start of sep 2015, First it was planned to open for traffic at sep 8 of 2015 but for some unknown reason its post upon for sep 12 2015 like tomorrow. ( without PM no body open it he he he )
3-
yeah you can easy travel from hunza to khunjerab and back to hunza same day including boat travel hours each side take 45 min on boat,
4-
No enough lake of oxygen at khunjerab pass,you will find a great weather there if you just going for tour not playing cricket there.
Some hints.
DONT MISS TO SPEND A HOUR OR HALF AT BORITH LAKE.
its 1km drive from silk highway,as you will cross atabad lake it will meet you at left side of road after 15-20 min drive upto khunjerab.

Yes PTDC Naran is expensive and there are some better hotels on lake road which are cheaper. In Hunza i would recommend PTDC as it is not that expensive if you see my post there is a rate list. You can get standard room with two mattresses under 3500. I would recommend it because of clean environment and hygienic food especially when you are travelling with family. Yes tunnel would make it possible to go to Khunjerab and come back to Hunza in same day but for that you have to leave early around 7am. Regarding oxygen level at Khunjerab AC would not help you as atmosphere has less oxygen and AC takes air from outside, however it wont be an issue, you will get tired quickly but its not that low that you will pass out. I have seen elderly people visiting there so you should be perfectly fine.

I also just returned from babuser top in the m/o aug.2015.Next year inshALLAH will plan to go to khunjrab pass.
