There is also another mechanic Mr. Yaqoob who is situated somewhere near Lyari or Garden i think (shall confirm tomorrow). Have heard good things about him too regarding rebuilding jeeps.

Only one word: Outstanding.
There used to be two restorers (mechanics) in Karachi. Ustad Dawood and Ustad Shafi. Probably one of them has died. I have read and heard about their work a lot. Their work used to be appreciated across the world. This could be the work of them or one of their successors. This much accuracy is not possible at any ordinary workshop. Ma Sha Allah. Keep it up Guys

You are right: only a few individuals can accurately nail the details. Dawood Ustad was one of them. He rebuilt our CJ7 back in 2000. He passed away in 2002 and his son Aslam is now running the workshop. Dawood was the probably the best, as his restored specimens are on display at museums in the US and elsewhere.

Dawood made his place in Guinness book also and the jeep in US museum is tag with Dawood's name on it but his son spoiled his image and name.

I am restoring one of my FJ40 by Shahid(Mechanic) and Hafeez(Denter) and another by Nasir in old golimar and will try another denter their as recommended by ustad Nasir.

Shahid worked on my brother's Jeep a couple of years ago and Hafeez was the one who did all the bodywork on the CJ7 back in 2000. He is hands down the best Jeep bodyman around by a long shot. Nasir works on our vehicles too. Is that your FJ in military colors awaiting restoration at his shop?

Ya, it is with Hafeez at the moment and for mechanical work Shahid is the guy........My other FJ is with Nasir for mechanical work and after Eid the denting will start which I am doing with a denter known to Nasir.

I saw another restored RKR softtop in white color which was just like brand new but forgot to take the pictures....when I asked the driver of that jeep that how much it cost the owner to restore it....he said 17 Lacs....I was shocked but loved the restoration work and realized that how much people pay for their passion....

There are some areas where situation is not so good but like rest of the Karachi, it is the same......The area where most of the mechanics are peaceful...It is the road which linked with SherShah road...

No, this is Lahoti's workshop and his work....Aslam is one of a good ustad but too lazy now a days......I went to him for my FJ40 but changed my mind due his laziness and switched to Shahid but again changed to Nasir in old golimar bcoz I have heard some bad is going to happen in Lyari after eid so decided to get out of that area....

Yes, the huge monster, converting back to left hand with the engine change and BTW my 2nd FJ40 is with the same denter where that Chevy was dented..
